Simple as it gets, saw him on stage, loved his style. With the light fading, we filmed tricks in the unforgiving cold. Aleksander remained unphased and chill throughout.

Roland Thomas-Biason got stuck at the airport after EYYC with Josh Vickers, and that means we get a video! I think the take-away here is that if Roland gets stuck anywhere for any length of time with another yoyo player, we get a video. Moar, please.

For the past 22 years, I’ve actively visualized yoyo tricks in my head for hours every day. I’ve never picked up a yoyo without first seeing clearly what I want to do with it in my mind, and I don’t believe that I’ve ever physically accomplished anything I’ve ever imagined. My entire yoyo career has been a never-ending series of intense disappointments stemming from the fact that I cannot figure out how to make yoyoing look in real life the way it looks in my head. This video is the closest approximation to how my yoyoing looks in my head. Impossible symmetry and fluid, repeating movements that defy reason and ability. Creating endlessly shifting patterns that evolve at the moment you’ve comprehended them and leave you behind. For decades I’ve described yoyoing to people as “temporal sculpture” and finally, a video that looks the way yoyoing feels to me. Thanks to Roland Thomas-Biason for shooting and cutting this incredible video, and to Armani Gentles-Williams for the tricks.
