Sector Y Presents: JAPAN TECHNOLOGY AIRE

November 13, 2016 By Steve Brown

Check out the Japan Technology AIRE (featured here) in action! This new signature model for long-time 4A pioneer and 6x National 4A champion Bryan Figueroa is a premium offstring yoyo from one of the most respected makers of offstring yoyos in the world. So, of course, the promo video was produced by Sector Y and is amazing.

Yoyo used is the Japan Technology AIRE.

サマーナイツ (Summer Nights) – The #WYYC15 After-Party Video

September 6, 2015 By Gabriel Lozano

This video is recommended for audiences 21+.

The World Yo-Yo Contest 2015 held official after-parties on every night (Nights 1 through 4) after the contest. It was well organized, and incredibly helpful to have an officially sanctioned event. It helped unify everyone after the contest, despite everyone staying at different hotels. I think this should be a case-study for future contests, in terms of unification of players, and for monetization purposes. (Yoyo players like to party!) Details of the after-party structure can be found here: http://tokyo15.com/en/world-yo-yo-party/

The 5th night was at a nightclub in Shibuya, Tokyo, where DJ Kohta was spinning. We drank and danced until the sun came up and the trains started again.

Personal thanks to Dimi. Tokyo was too much for one person to take in, so Dimi helped shoot with another camera over several nights. So many of the great shots you see in this video were thanks to him. Without his support, this video would not have been possible. Thank you, Dimi. For more of his photos, follow him on instagram at @iam_dimi.

Music is サマーナイツ (Summernights) by Alejandro Dale.
It can be found on Soundcloud here.

Thank you for watching.

Top Five: David Ung’s Favorite Modern Videos

June 12, 2013 By Drew Tetz

Yoyofactory team member David Ung took a break from his bike-ridin’ dreamboat supergenius lifestyle to pull together a list of his top five favorite modern yo-yo video clips. Seeing as he’s the mastermind behind such modern classics as Broke and Your Future’s With Us, we’re inclined to listen! If you want to see more from David, check out his youtube channel and his stint on the 2012 season of 365yoyotricks, but in the meantime kick up your feet and see what he’s turning to for inspiration for an upcoming new video. Hit it!

“Miggy has the most impressive list of yo-yo videos. Win By Default is especially near and dear to my heart because it’s the first video I saw that made me go: ‘okay, yo-yo videos can be more than just standing in a bedroom and recording your tricks.’ Miggy has always been into themed yo-yo videos (see: Manifest Destiny, Tunnels) but Win By Default is the one that inspired me to put more effort into my videos.”

“Whyte Avenue has a powerhouse of collaborators. Chuck produced a great video, Chase made an awesome track, and Seth’s yo-yoing is some of the best. The video is composed beautifully and the cuts between angles are seamless. It’s great to see Seth on the other side of the camera for once!”

“Golden Age has such a great vibe to it. Chuck had great timing with all of the music and the video had some gorgeous scenery. Keep in mind this was released around three years ago! His tricks were super ahead of the curve, and the shots starting at 0:36 and 2:40 are beautiful.”

“Legendary had over four minutes of great yo-yoing. Jason Lee is one of the most innovative players of all time, and to see him and Gabe collaborate on such an amazing project while Jason was traveling is super humbling. Jason’s tricks show that there is still a lot you can do without overly technical tricks.”

“The Park is my favorite video of 2012. I normally hate videos entirely in slow-motion, but Gabe did a beautiful job. The Royal Concept track fit perfectly and the video overwhelms you with such a great vibe. Gabe made the yo-yo video I always wanted to make with this one.”

Memory Dump vol. 1 – Bryan Figueroa – YoYoNews Exclusive

February 7, 2013 By Gabriel Lozano

It is without question that Bryan Figeuroa is one of the greatest 4A players to ever grace the stage. He has won the US National Yo-Yo Contest six times, the California State Championships three times, and has placed second at the World Yo-Yo Contest in 2012. With such an illustrious 4A career, it’s no surprise that Bryan’s 1A has gotten lost in the shuffle.

Bryan has crafted a truly unique 1A style, and he spent a few minutes with Sector Y at a recent Spindox meet so he could show off some of his 1A moves. Most of these are little moves, and not necessarily full length tricks or long combos. They’re simply cool moves that he wanted to commit to video before he forgot them.

This is the first entry in the Memory Dump series. The series aims to film little moves that would otherwise get swept away in the fast moving world of yoyoing.

Zach Attack! featuring Zach Gormley – YoYoNews Exclusive

January 24, 2013 By Gabriel Lozano

After winning the National YoYo Championship in 2012, CLYW‘s Zach Gormley spent a few moments filming with Sector Y.  In just a few minutes, he was able to demonstrate amazing tricks that consistently push the envelope of innovation. At under a minute-and-a-half, this video is a dense look at modern trick composition and theory. It will take several views to fully grasp the direction that Zach has taken with his unique style of yoyoing, and we can’t wait to see the influence of Zach’s style permeate the yoyosphere over the next several years.
