Petr Kavka wins Czech Nationals!

Petr Kavka is the 2013 Czech National Champion! Petr, who’s no stranger to competition in Czech Republic and abroad, is the 1A winner of this year’s Czech Nationals, beating his Slusny teammates Vashek Kroutil and Tomáš Bubák!

Vashek wins Czech Nationals!

A very tight score defined this year’s Czech National Champion. Vashek Kroutil beat Tyler Young by the bare minimum 0.01 point! Last year’s defending champion, Tomás Bubák ended in 8th place.

In the International division, Krizstian Kalusza was the winner, ahead of Michal Zakzewski and Kentaro Kimura. This year’s title collector Dávid Molnar took yet another trophy home winning the X division, while Maciek Cwynar won 5A.

Hats off to the Czech Yo-yo Association for yet another fantastic event, with a superb live stream and unbelievably fast scores published to the contest site!

Zach Gormley wins US Nationals!

CLYW’s wonder boy Zach Gormley is the new US National 1A Champion! Zach presented a well presented and very technical freestyle to convincingly take 1st place! Check the video below! Congratulations, Zach!

YoyoFactory also won big today, winning the 2A, 3A, and 5A divisions, with Patrick Mitchell, Patrick Borgerding, and Tyler Severance, respectively.

In 4A, Bryan Figueroa continues to be the best 4A player in the US, winning his sixth National title!

Hiroyuki Suzuki wins Japan Nationals!

It was a day for World Champions in Chiba, as they were crowned champions in all five divisions of the 2012 Japan National Yo-yo Contest!

Long-time favorite Hiroyuki Suzuki won the spectacular 1A division, followed by Akitoshi Tokubuchi and Kazuki Okada. In 2A, 2008 World Champion Takuma Yamamoto took the title, followed by two of the strongest names in the division, Shu Takada and Ryo Yamashita.

3A saw 2010 World Champion Minato Furuta beat Mizuki Takimoto and Ken Takabayashi to take the title. In 4A, another battle of giants, with World Champions Naoto Okada and Rei Iwakura taking the top spots, followed by the always amazing Kazuaki Sugimura.

Finally in 5A, Takuma Inoue, 2009 World Champion, took first place, ahead of Takayuki Kuriyama and Hideo Ishida.

Day one of  the 2012 Japan National Yo-yo Contest is over, and as expected, a fierce competition took place in all divisions! See who’s joining the seeded players tomorrow!

With just three spots in 2A to 5A, it’s no surprise that some of the favorites did not make it to the final round. Taichiro Higashi in 3A, and Ryota Torigoe in 5A got fourth in their divisions and won’t be battling for the title. In 1A, a notable absence among the finalists is Reiki Sekiya, who ended up in 15th and is also out of the final round.

Be sure to watch the live stream to catch all the action of the final day! It could well be the toughest edition of Japan Nationals yet!
