World & National Champion Gentry Stein showed up on the Steve Harvey Show yesterday with World Champions Tessa Piccillo and Mark Montgomery, and National Champion Philip White. That’s a fantastic crew of talent there, and they all got to show off a bit for Steve and his audience. Great work everyone, and thanks for representing modern yoyoing to the public so well!

The folks at One Drop released a new promo video for their Terrarian yoyo (a collaboration with Re-Logic, the software company behind the sandbox game Terraria), and this one features yoyo legend and World Champion Mark Montgomery. Good stuff!
We are proud to be in an amazing partnership with independent game studio Re-Logic who develop the open-ended 2D sandbox video game Terraria.
Lead designer and head of Re-Logic, Andrew “Redigit” Spinks, approached us in early 2015 with the idea of implementing our yo-yos into the game and we loved it. Over the next few months we worked with Re-Logic and “uploaded” some of your favorite One Drops into the vast digital landscape of Terraria. You’ll stumble upon models such as the Cascade, Valor, Yelets and much more throughout your journey in the game. As you draw near the end of your adventure, you’ll encounter the Moon Lord, widely known as the “Final Boss”. If you are able to take down this behemoth, you have a chance to receive the ultimate yo-yo in the game, the Terrarian. We decided to “download” the Terrarian and bring it to real life and pull the collaboration full circle.
We worked closely with Andrew and zoned in on his thoughts and ideas for designing the ultimate One Drop. The Terrarian sports a wide wing shaped profile that will never want to miss your string segments or enemies you’ll want to take down in the game! Thanks to a new machining technique, we were able to balance the weight distribution through the wall, boasting a powerful, yet floaty sensation during play. The Projection Profile is featured throughout the entire catch zone, with a subtle bump at the wing transition – it gives your nerve endings a unique feeling after a long critical combo. With Side Effects as the axle system, you have the opportunity to change how the yo-yo feels, plays and look.

After a seemingly endless amount of teasers, illustrated gifs, an infuriating but hilarious product review video, and mostly factual musings on yoyo history, Mark Montgomery’s Markmont Classic has FINALLY been unveiled! Price and release date have not been announced yet, but expect to see these in stores soon.

Mark Montgomery should win some kind of award for how much he’s got people talking about his new yoyo without anyone actually seeing it. This promo campaign is starting to remind me of when we used to make flyers for fake bands in high school.
Mark, this yoyo better be AMAZING.
Also, these are the only good yoyo reviews I’ve ever heard. Nice job, Mark.

Mark Montgomery has taken yoyo drop teasers to the next level with these animated gifs. We still know nothing about the upcoming MarkMont Classic from One Drop, but we know this: even when reduced to black & white illustrations and animated gifs, you can still spot Mark’s yoyoing a mile away.

All of the official Finals and Sports 1A videos from the North East Regionals (Z-Games) last weekend are now online here: 1A 2A 3A 4A 5A
This year we tried out a new multi-camera filming setup, and despite an exciting variety of equipment issues, the Top 10 of 1A are presented in this exclusive new configuration. This is the first time I’ve ever seen multiple camera angles edited together for an American contest, and these videos turned out pretty awesome.
And here are a few moments aside from the winning routines that are worth checking out:
Players compete with imaginary yo-yos to win a YoYofficer Aura. With demos by judges Paul Dang and Graeme Steller, and competitors David Kane, Anthony Federici, Gabe Carter-Weidenfeld, and Hudson Wright.
Hosted by Graeme Steller, yo-yoing legends Daniel Dietz, Eric Koloski, Jeff Coons, Mark Montgomery, and Paul Dang perform classic 1A Sport Ladder tricks, without using their eyes!
John Wolfe does awesome 5A juggling, also crazy Rei-Dragon (dual-string 5A) tricks in his 3rd place routine.
And congratulations to Adam Lord for earning the Brett Outchcunis award, in recognition for his efforts to encourage and support the yoyo community. Adam is a Yomega Ambassador and also responsible for organizing the NH State YoYo Contest, which is coming up soon on June 21st.
