Alex Lee (guitarist for Holy Grail) just dropped his first yoyo video of the year…new tricks, and a new song! Alex is one of the very few players who soundtrack their own videos and as you can see…he does a hell of a job with it.
Yoyo used is the Prestige by General Yo.
Each year at the National YoYo Contest, the National YoYo Museum gives out several additional awards during the course of the event. These awards recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions to many different aspects of the art and sport of yoyo play. This year’s winners:
General Yo team member Glenn Godsey gives us an oral history of his life as a yoyo player beginning in the 1940’s in this great 10-minute short film by David Gilbert.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have these type of conversations with quite a few yoyo players over the years…Duncan demonstrators from the 50s and 60s, serial competitors from the same time period, and it’s truly a beautiful thing to hear a lifetime worth of recollections about this art/hobby/sport of ours. Make some time to watch and enjoy this film, and the next time you’re out playing some where and someone comes up and says “You know, I used to be a yoyo champ…” take some time and get their story.
