4x Filipino National Champion Bryan Jardin has a new signature yoyo coming out with Duncan Toys, and this is our first official look at it! We don’t really have any details on it, but it’s called the Origami and it will likely be a typical budget metal from Duncan…so probably in the $50 range?
Enjoy the video, and I’ll chase down Duncan for more details. 😉
Janos Karancz – Tricks To Beat
2013 World YoYo Champion Janos Karancz is one of those rare players who can straight up show everyone all his new tricks before a contest and not have to worry about anyone ripping them off. Because let’s be real here…we can’t do them. Sure, we might figure out a piece here or there, but Janos is a rare and truly unique talent in the modern yoyo scene and his tricks are pretty much untouchable. And hella fun to watch!

YoYo Spotlight – Duncan Bassacuda
Duncan Bassacuda Specs:
Diameter: 55.96mm
Width: 44.44mm
Weight: 65.4 grams
Response: 19mm pad
Bearing: Dif-e-Yo Konkave Size C (.250 x .500 x .187)
The Bassacuda is the long-awaited signature yoyo for US National Champion, European Open Division Champion and 2-time World Yo-Yo Contest medalist Sebastian Brock. Designed with the Duncan Barracuda as the starting point and then optimized for Sebby’s unique style of play and trick construction, the Bassacuda is a fresh new beast with a totally different feel.
PLAY
The Bassacuda is light, fat, and fast and has a feel that really stands out in the modern yoyo landscape. The fat rims and contoured slope to the gap give the Bassacuda a wide, comfortable feel both in the hand and on the string. The light weight keeps the Bassacuda nimble and able to play incredibly fast, but the wider feel to this yoyo lends itself well to slowing down and giving your tricks room to breathe. It’s a perfect yoyo for Sebby’s style…dense, technical tricks that open up suddenly and pause for air long enough for the entire audience to see and enjoy what is happening. The Bassacuda straddles that line between competition and fun, and is a great all-around throw for any player.
LOOKS
Available in several different editions, the Bassacuda engravings are as unique as Sebby’s tricks. The standard edition has a nautical theme, with a ship’s wheel as the focal point of the side engraving, and with various other icons serving as compass points for a unique engraving in the catch zone of the yoyo, immediately around the response area. There have already been numerous special editions, including an understated and fantastic collaboration with Unknown. The fit and finish are far better than you would expect for a budget metal yoyo, and the various special editions really look great on a yoyo with plenty of real estate for artwork.
VALUE
The Duncan Bassacuda retails for $45 – $50, depending on the edition, and it’s an absolute steal at that price. Great for contests or casual throwing, with enough special editions and colorways that anyone can find something they like, the Bassacuda is the budget metal yoyo we’ve all been waiting for from Duncan Toys.

Duncan Toys Opens Vault to help the Koloski Family
One of the most well known faces in the yoyo community, as well as charming smile, is Augie Fash. As many of you know, Augie works for Duncan Toys and they have partnered up to send some true Duncan love to the Koloski family.
Do you know Eric Køløski?
If you don’t, you should. Eric is one of the greatest guys I know. Eric and I go back about 10 years. Even though he’s got multiple jobs and a mountain of responsibilities, he still finds time to teach kids, to volunteer his time, and to help keep this yo-yo community going.
He’s got a big heart and has shown a lot of love to the yo-yo world over the years. I’m hoping we can do the same for him in return.
To make a long story short, Eric’s mom has run into severe health problems. She could really use our help.
As many of you know, I work for Duncan Toys. In the back of the Duncan warehouse is a small room known as “the cage”. The cage is an archive of rare Duncan products and prototypes. Duncan has agreed to open up the cage and sell some of the items, with ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the proceeds going to Eric’s family.
You can purchase these rare yoyos here:
If you can’t buy anything, you can still help by sharing the link. Alternately, if you would like to do a straight-up donation, please head here: https://www.gofundme.com/Love-To-Koloski
Augie will be updating the website over the course of the next few weeks with even more rarities, so be on the look out. Big props to both Augie and Duncan Toys for doing this.
