YoYoRecreation Announces New Rebellion YoYos

August 5, 2015 By Steve Brown

Rebellion YoYos by YoYoRecreation

YoYoRecreation has just announced FOUR new yoyos being released under their “Rebellion YoYos” sub-brand at the 2015 World YoYo Contest!

Rebellion YoYos - Lilliputian

Liliputian ¥4480 / $36 USD
The Liliputian is an undersized model, something we don’t see a lot of lately. Available first in light purple and black.

YoYoRecreation Rebellion YoYos Quilin

Qilin ¥6480 / $52 USD
The Qilin is based on the YoYoRecreation Sleipnir, giving players a shot at similar performance for a much lower price.

YoYoRecreation Rebellion Dread DreadG

Dread & Dread G – ¥8800 / $70 USD
With a 62mm diameter, the Dread is modeled after the YoYoRecreation Dreadnought, a cult classic among yoyo players. The Dread G version is heavier, weighing in at 80 grams for players who want something that solid and stable.

There will also be new colorways available for the existing Rebellion YoYos models, the Acro, Butcher, and Golyat.

YoYo Spotlight – Rebellion Acro

July 21, 2015 By Steve Brown

Rebellion Acro by YoYorecreation

Rebellion Acro Specs:

Diameter: 55.50 mm
Width: 45.17 mm
Gap: 4.50 mm
Weight: 67 grams
Response: 19mm Slim Pads
Bearing: Konkave Size C (.250 x .500 x .187)

The Acro is part of the first wave of releases from Rebellion, a new budget line of yoyos created by Kengo Kido and Piotrek Smietana of YoYoRecreation.

PLAY

The Acro is a budget-friendly aluminum yoyo, based slightly on the design of the YoYoRecreation Acrophobia. When you think of a budget model, “dead smooth” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind but the Rebellion Acro brings a smoothness that will leave you wondering just how they are able to sell this for such a low price. The full-sized body and wide profile make it easy to hit anything you’re trying on this yoyo, and it throws smooth and binds tight. It has a solid, quality feel and plays like a yoyo twice its price, and the inclusion of a Konkave bearing will make plenty of players happy. Fast on the string and long-spinning, the Acro is sure to become a contest favorite for players looking to get the most for their money. Excellent for 1A or 5A, although it may be too wide for most 3A players tastes.

LOOKS

The fit and finish on the Rebellion Acro light are excellent for a budget yoyo. Available in solid colors only, the Acro is meant to be a solid value with a simple aesthetic. Packed in a stamped cardboard box, the Acro features only a simple engraving with its name and the flag icon of the Rebellion line. Simple and straightforward, this model is meant for players.

VALUE

The Rebellion Acro retails for just $50, making it an amazing value for the serious player on a budget. With high quality manufacturing and great play value, the Acro is unbelievably good and meets or exceeds the value of most other yoyos in this price range. The Acro looks, plays, and holds up like a far more expensive yoyo, and should serve you well.

Rebellion by YoYoRecreation

Rebellion by YoYoRecreation

We just got word that high-end Japanese yoyo brand YoYoRecreation has a new line of budget-friendly yoyos coming soon under the sub-brand, “Rebellion”. We contacted YoYoRecreation team member Piotrek Smietana for details and he had this to say:

Rebellion is a new brand powered by Yoyorecreation, in a reply for the needs of the market. A lot of people want to have Yoyorecreation yoyos but they simply can’t afford it, and thats where Rebellion comes in.

3 brand new yoyos will be released during JN – Acro, Butcher and Golyat. It will be a brand on which I will be working together with Kengo, combining his experience in Japan and mine in Europe.

Photos of the three models and the official statement from YoYoRecreation are below…once we get our samples we’ll post full specs and details. This is a huge step forward for YoYoRecreation…we’re looking forward to trying them out!

YoYoRecreation Rebellion - Butcher

Butcher
6,480 JPY ($54 USD)
The unique rim shape of the Butcher provides excellent weight distribution and superb performance. This model is aimed at players who prefer an organic feel, and have a balanced play-style which demands all-round performance.
The first run will be available in matte green and matte black.

YoYoRecreation Rebellion - Acro

ACRO
5,980 JPY ($50 USD)
Despite its wide shape, the Acro is a very stable yo-yo. It really shines through when performing tricks such as hops which are aided by its width.
This first run will be available in red and black.

YoYoRecreation Rebellion - Golyat

Golyat
5,480 JPY ($46 USD)
The Golyat has an over-sized shape, machined out of polyacetal resin. The resin has a naturally smooth texture, and the yo-yo plays exceptionally nimbly.
The first fun will be available in blue and black.
