It’s finally happening!
Towards the end of Anti-Yo, Sonny designed a yoyo that was his crowning achievement for the company. It was square and boxy and big and it looked unlikely but everyone who tried the prototype agreed: it was the best Anti-Yo ever. So, of course, it never got made. Jake Bullock has one. He told me it was a perfect 5A yoyo. Sonny told me that’s why he wanted something bigger. I got misty-eyed about that.
For years only 10 of them have been floating around. (I have one. It’s one of my most treasured possessions.) The few players that had one continued to run their mouths about how perfect it was and pretty regularly say things to Sonny like “dude, I’m not joking, I will pay for the run to get these made”. A prototype sold on eBay for $700 a couple of months ago. We never gave up, but we all suspected that the Küntosh would never quite see the light of day.
AND NOW HOLY CRAP SONNY IS MAKING THEM WITH ONE DROP AND THEY LOOK AMAZING!
I talked to Sonny yesterday and confirmed: this is the original, unchanged design. This is the Küntosh, exactly as it would have been released originally by Anti-Yo (although, knowing those guys, if they released it themselves it would have come with a counterweight made from the crushed rear panel of an actual Lamborghini Countach or something insane like that). Available sometime this month (!!!) from retailers far and wide, the Küntosh starts at $85 for solids and will be the finest thing you own. And if you don’t like it, I’ll take it because I’m going stockpile these, just in case. Old habits, you know.
