YoYo Spotlight – One Drop Format C

May 13, 2014 By YoYoNews

FormatC_ThreeQuarter

One Drop Format:C Specs:

Diameter: 56.75 mm
Width: 42.18 mm
Gap Width: 4.35 mm
Weight:  65.1 grams
Bearing: One Drop 10 Ball Bearing (.250 x .500 x .187)
Response: One Drop Flow Groove

PLAY

The Format:C by One Drop was designed to be a competition killer of a yoyo, and it lives up to that ideal. This full-sized throw is remarkably stable, and fully capable of performing at the top level of modern yoyo competition. It holds spin through any and all styles of play or tricks, and the combination of tremendous rim weight and One Drop’s 10 Ball bearing makes the Format:C feel almost unstoppable at times.

Weighing in at only 65 grams, the Format:C moves fast through any style of tricks and spins perfectly true out of the box, as you would expect of One Drop’s premium offerings. One Drop’s reliable 10-ball bearings spin smooth and nearly silent, and only get better as you break them in. Their Flow Groove response is some of the longest-lasting response on the market, and once broken-in it holds that “sweet spot” for a long time.

FormatC_Profile

LOOKS

The One Drop Format:C features concentric machined silver rings on the outer rim and inner rim wall, giving it an incredibly stylish and unique profile. It’s easy to fall in love with the simplicity of this yoyo…at first glance you see great solid colors and immediately identifiable machined rings, and the effect is quite fetching. The lack of overwhelming splash anodization is a welcome change of pace…while we love fancy finishes, the Format:C is a workhorse and gets right to the point!

VALUE

The Format:C retails for $120, and is a fantastic investment for a serious competition player. Made of incredibly durable 7075 aluminum, if cared for properly the Format:C should have no problems leading you up through multiple years of contest play.

My 8 year old thinks it looks awesome but it would take a lot of chores to buy it… He just performed at his school talent show and blew everyone away with how amazing he was. He’s only been yoyoing for about 3 and 1/2 months and is incredibly gifted(and I say that not as his dad but as a fan).

I would really like to win this so that I can show the locals here the awesomeness of OD yoyos. (They’re not getting enough love here) I was planning to buy one and make it my main competition yoyo but I can’t save enough cash to get myself even just one. Now this contest will make it come true if I win.

For a someone like me on a very low budget, I love it when pro’s like yourselves review yoyos. Your reviews allow me to find the best yoyo for the money. I currently own two yoyos the YYF Shutter and DV888. The DV888 I bought without looking at any reviews and it is awful. The Shutter is awesome and I owe it to the pros who took the time to make these reviews. This is more yoyo than I could ever afford for a while, but I hope I win it. Great review.

I would like to win this yoyo because I only have 5 yoyos, so it would be a great addition to my collection. 🙂

I would also use it to its fullest extent, and it would really help me progress in my yoyo journey. 😀

  46. Wilson Ni says

    May 13, 2014 at 9:24 pm

The Forest green color is insanely deep and rich. This yoyo is full sized and lightweight, which really suit my preferences. The V x H shape is the most comfortable shape hands down, which makes me want to try this out, especially due to it be 7075 which is my favorite material. I’ve been wanting this yoyo since I saw it come out, and this appears to be the OD Sleipnir. I would love to own this beauty!

  47. Louie Zhong says

    May 13, 2014 at 9:15 pm

Really want to try a nice 7075 throw!
    Thanks for having this giveaway

  48. Kristopher Baumann says

    May 13, 2014 at 8:10 pm

I think I deserve to win this because I am an advanced player -nearing expert- with pretty good talent, a burning will to compete, and -sadly- a small collection. Only 3 from one drop -lower priced ones too. I don’t really have any quality pieces ($95+) in my collection other than a used YYJ Diamondback (one of my faves). I have been looking at the Format C and the Valor a lot to get for my first “serious/competition” throw.

If I got this, I would go through the roof with excitement, and this would definitely be the throw I would use at my first competition.

Good review and a great site.

  49. Greg Angel says

    May 13, 2014 at 7:51 pm

I think I deserve this yoyo because I am starting out at competition. As an up-and-coming player, it is good to have the best technology out there; it boosts my confidence and makes it easier to make tricks because it is harder to make the yoyo stop sleeping. I also have a very small One Drop collection; I only have a Rally and the Summit. If I win this yoyo, then you will have opened up a window to One Drop yo-yos for me and I may become a loyal customer to them. Thanks for holding this give-away.

  50. Michael Wang says

    May 13, 2014 at 7:49 pm

I deserve to have this yoyo because of my beast skills. And the fact it’ll be a nice addition to my growing OD collection.

  51. Felix Cadiz says

    May 13, 2014 at 7:41 pm

I think that throw should be mine since my last name begins with a C. Format C = Format Cadiz.

Me since its my birthday on May 16 and I just hit 1 year of yoyoing 😀 I play 1A, 3A, 4A, and 5A but I’ll probably use it for 1A and maybe 5A when I become better 😀

  58. Micah W. (Zort Commander) says

  59. David Sexton says

Hmm, well i already have a single sight line, i want this one to go with it!

  60. Peng-An Ang says

    May 13, 2014 at 5:25 pm

I just want this yoyo so I can try it since I probably won’t ever buy this yoyo since I don’t have the money. This yoyo also seems like a great yoyo to try out.

  61. Carson Wolf says

    May 13, 2014 at 5:16 pm

a good 7075 yoyo needs to push the limits of 7075. aluminum 7075 has more than 2 twice as much yield strength than aluminum 6061, meaning you can make wall thinner. with thinner walls you can get the same moment of inertia of a 6061 yoyo but alot lighter. I would of liked to see the format C be a little lighter than 65 grams. I have never thrown the format C and I would love to get the opportunity to throw it to see if it is a good 7075 yoyo.

  62. Daniel Lacanienta says

    May 13, 2014 at 4:35 pm

I think I should get this yoyo so I can compete more seriously. I think it’s yet stable qualities would fit me well. 🙂

  63. Cameron Bolton says

    May 13, 2014 at 4:30 pm

Easy answer. The Format C looks like a throw made for the Gods. Oh man, would I love to use the Format C!

  64. Tal Mordoch says

    May 13, 2014 at 4:27 pm

it looks awesome and I really like one drop yoyos 🙂

  65. Micah W. (Zort Commander) says

    May 13, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Hmmm… Well, I have been in the market for a new competition based yoyo. And a Format: C has contest right in the name. I’ve had the pleasure of playing it at a local yoyo store, but I have been short on money. I only get 4 dollars a month. 😉 And that double slight line is gosh darn beautiful. I really need one for NER and the Format: C is perfect for my style, fast, but nice and stable. I came in 3rd in the YYE Throwdown! I’ll promise I’ll do good. 🙂 .Well, that was a pretty long line of text.

    Merry Christmas Everybody!
