EYYC 2014 is just around the corner…time to take a look at the top contenders in each division! First up we’re going to take a look at the 5A (counterweight) division. Once the most fiercely competitive division after 1A, the popularity of counterweight has waned in recent years. There’s still plenty of talent here, though, and the top competitive counterweight players in the world keep getting better and better!

Daniel took Second Place in last year’s European YoYo Championship in the 5A Division, and is a solid fixture in the Top Five for the counterweight division of most European contests. After last year’s loss to Jan Hlinka, Daniel seems to be excited to prove himself as the top counterweight player in Europe. And since we don’t see Jan registered for the counterweight division this year, Daniel is definitely the top competitor for the title of European Champion!

After winning the counterweight division at this year Czech Nationals, David Molnar is on the fast track to the European title. The progress of his play from one year to the next has been stunning, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what David brings to his hometown stage in Budapest.

Last year, Maciek took Third Place in the counterweight division at EYYC, and we have it on good authority that he’s practiced up and ready to move up in the rankings this year. The field of top 5A players in Europe isn’t very broad, but it’s filled with skill and ambition, and Maciek is definitely gunning for the top spot this year.

2013 Bulgarian National Champion George Stoyanov is another top contender for the EYYC 2014 title in the counterweight division. While his performance at Bulgarian Nationals 2013 was a little shaky, his 6th Place finish at the 2013 EYYC was noticeably better.
