Homegrown Kendamas are made locally in our home state of Minnesota by expert wood craftsmen. We’ve been working with the manufacturer for the last year to bring to market the highest quality Kendama to ever bear the Sweets name. This run is made from 100% maple, giving it very durable and playable feel. The Homegrown has been a hands-down favorite of the entire Sweets team since we began testing them.
Every Homegrown Kendama comes in a special cloth bag with the Homegrown logo on the front. Comes with an extra string, bead, instructional book and stickers.

Sweets Kendamas dropped their 2013 Pro Edit and it’s jaw dropping. The current Sweets roster has some incredible talent, but the first thing you need to do is skip ahead to 4:10, watch that a few times, realize you will never, ever hit it, and then go back and watch the entire video from the start.
Seriously, that whole sequence is EVERYTHING I love about object manipulation…the trick starts big, takes up a lot of space, and then drops to two technically baller moves that happen in an instant and are impossibly difficult.
Featuring Christian Fraser, Chaz Edwards, Oase, William Penniman, and Matthew Jorgenson.

Anthony Rojas dropped a burly kendama video today and as you’d expect, it’s some next level business. There are some concepts that should look familiar to yoyo players, and it’s nice to see their evolution as kendama tricks. Kendama by Sweets Kendamas.

Sweets Kendamas dropped a full pro edit showing off the VooDama dolls! These are supposed to go into full production soon…and I can’t wait to finally get my hands on one! C’mon…it’s a combination of action figures and skill toys! Might as well just engrave my name on the butt, it’s my perfect toy!
The VooDama Doll is a very new skill toy with endless tricking opportunities. We filmed this edit while in Spokane WA for the Spotown Throwdown. We were lucky enough to have some of the games finest kendama players throwdown some seriously nasty tricks on the VooDama.
Sweets Kendamas is currently working on having the VooDama mass produced and should be available sometime in the month of July. Until then keep an eye on our Ebay store for one of a kind VooDamas.

We’ve got a brutal kendama double feature for you…two videos guaranteed to provide you with hours upon hours of relentless frustration. 😉
First up we have a Three Trick Thursday video from Cross Kens Gang player Thibaut Arcos, a French kendama player. The second trick is going to cause some serious damage as every kendama player rushes to their equipment to start working out variations.
And next we’ve got a fun one from Polish kendama player Karol Tutkaj and some friends…a crazy 7-minute video with a ton of great tricks and big smiles. These guys are having so much fun, it’s hard to watch the tricks and not them!

Three Tricks Thursday with the CrossKens Gang! KendAlex drops three bombs with this week’s video…the last trick in particular was enough to make me get up from the computer and grab a kendama. Twenty minutes later I was nowhere close to hitting it and crying, just a little.
Kendama used is the White aTack from Sweets, which I can totally recommend because I have one and I love it.

Xopo Daniel Pérez from the Cross Kens Gang just dropped this amazing 4-trick video and every trick in here looks terrifyingly difficult.
Heads up, music is NSFW.

Spokane, Washington is going to be the site of the 2013 Spotown Throwdown kendama competition.
The event is 5 PM – 9 PM at Mead High School. Admission is $5 and that gets you a raffle ticket and a chance to enter the ladder competition.
Unlike yoyo contests, the ladders are not pre-defined by any governing body…with kendama competitions the ladders are created from scratch for each event by the organizers. So basically, show up ready to work hard for your win.
RSVP on the event page on Facebook, and good luck!

The folks over at Sweets Kendama are releasing a very small quantity of these VooDama Dolls…a handmade cross between a kendama and a voodoo doll. With the success of the Pill, I think we’re going to see a bit more experimenting from kendama manufacturers with different shapes and concepts like this. Granted the kendama is a perfect toy, refined after some 300+ years of existence….that that doesn’t mean it can’t still use a little tweaking now and again.
No word yet on release date or price, but keep an eye on the Sweets Kendamas site for more details.

Sweets Kendamas is currently running a video contest, with the grand prize being a 1-year sponsorship deal. Crazy, right? Not as crazy as the five finalists’ videos. The tricks these guys are pulling off are just ridiculous. They each have to create another 2-minute video for the final round to determine who wins the sponsorship. Good luck to all the finalists, and check out the videos that got them to this round…amazing work from all of them!
