YoYoFactory’s new Ann Connolly Collection is hitting store, so they’ve released a promo video to promote! The collection includes custom editions of the OneStar in limited edition purple, and the Shutter in an amazing silver/pink/purple wash. The OneStar retails for $15, and the Shutter retails for $70, and both are available now.
YoYoFactory has given us a partial unveiling of their Pulsar Collection, which will have its first release this weekend at Japan Nationals on May 3rd & 4th. Featuring a yoyo string remix of the iconic Joy Division cover art for the album “Unknown Pleasures“.
The collection includes the Shutter, the OneStar, the Superstar, and the new 2014 Genesis. All four models feature the Pulsar/String artwork, although the Superstar is the only one that comes in a color other than black. And as a nice touch, it actually looks like the Superstar comes in a blue color that references the Scientific American article showing the pulsar waves, published in 1971. The new Genesis’ most striking featuring is a stainless steel weight right, added in just below the step in the inner gap of the yoyo.
This new collection is super limited, although we haven’t gotten confirmation of full numbers for each model yet. We have heard that the 2014 Genesis will be limited to 50 – 60 pieces and retail for $130+, although that’s unconfirmed. We do have full specs for the new Genesis, though, and a review on the way!
YoYoFactory 2014 Genesis Specs:

We’ve got a new video from Russian YoYoFactory Team Member Igor Galiev, and it comes along with this explanation:
The yoyo, the dog and the #coconutpwdr falling from the sky. Dreamy forest adventure.
Old Russian tale says: “If you go to the coconut shower forest and perform a yoyo combo with no single mistake and finish it with goldengate picture trick, serendipity dog shell appear and bring you to the temple of skill.”
I have absolutely no idea what that means. But watch the video, it’s got some great tricks.
Lots of #yoyodrops happening soon with so many huge contests coming up…here are a few that caught our eye.
YoYoRecreation has beautiful new colors of their offstring yoyo, the Aeronaut, coming out at the Asia Pacific Challenge.
Monkeyfinger has announced a new signature model for Mike Montgomery, the Forte. No price or specs yet.
YoYoFactory has new colorways of the ONEstar, Loop 1080, and new super limited splash versions of the H.O.T., Proton, and Genesis+. Each of these splash colorways are limited to less than 50 pieces each, and will hit stores soon.
Malaysian player favorite Mimi Thian puts in some work with one of the new colors of the YoYoFactory ONEStar in this quick new promo video from Malaysian retailer, 28Spin.com. Mimi is always a pleasure to watch!
Jojobolt.hu dropped a pretty good video featuring Martin Csiszar and the YoYoFactory ONEStar.
Martin seems like a fairly new player, judging by the stiffness in his shoulders when he plays and some oddness in his Trapeze throws, but he’s definitely got some promise. Fun video by an up-and-comer!
This is what happens when you try to guess about a player from watching one video. Martin is not only NOT a new player, he’s a past winner of the Open Division at Czech Nationals and is something of an “old school” master from Hungary.
My apologies to Martin! Also, we clearly REALLY need a European correspondent to help us out…anyone want to step up?
Watching this video is like hunting for a sasquatch. You know he’s out there, you catch little glimpses that are amazing, but you never feel like you’ve really seen whatever it is you think you’ve seen.
The low-light idea is interesting, but mostly we just want to see more tricks from Ibrahim Itani, an incredibly smooth and creative yoyo player.
Don’t make us wait so long for the next video, Ibrahim, and shoot the next one during the day, please!
YoYoFactory.pl always delivers with the product videos, and this one for the Paul Han ONEstar doesn’t disappoint. Up-and-coming talent Borys Radziszewski gives us a nice glimpse of his future in this well-produced ONEstar promo video…he’s definitely got the skill and the talent to eventually become a top contest player in the European circuit.
YoYoFactory pointed out this smooth video from the Edenlake Crew in Slovakia featuring Jozef Smrek and the Paul Han ONEStar. We’ve got an amazing generation of players right now who are really young but throw like they’ve got a decade of experience under their belts…and the fact that we finally have the technology to find them all over the world is fantastic.
Hats off to Jozef and the Edenlake crew. Keep the videos coming!
There’s been a lot of talk about new products from YoYoFactory since the international toy fairs in New York, Nuremburg, and Hong Kong, and we’ve finally gotten hard information on everything!
New Packaging for 2013
The One, WHiP, OneStar, Velocity, F.A.S.T. 201, and Loop 360 all have brand-new, beginner-centric packaging. Slip knots come pre-tied and ready for a new player, and the packaging is a noticeable departure from the look of most yoyo cards. Designed by John Huber, the new packaging looks great and once again raises the bar for industry packaging design.
Ricochet – Titanium YoYo
The Ricochet is YoYoFactory’s first 100% titanium yoyo. Only 60% more dense than aluminum but more than 200% stronger, titanium is an expensive but excellent way to make sure you end up with a throw that will last you the rest of your life. The Ricochet will retail for between $200 – $230, and will be available from YoYoExpert and other yoyo specialty retailers. The coolest feature is the packaging…expect to see more YoYoFactory models available in these new plastic boxes, which serve as display boxes (with wall-mounting capabilities) that even lock together…so as you collect more yoyos, you build your own display case for them. Neat!
Official worldwide release date for the Ricochet is Sunday, March 17th, and each one comes with a limited edition translucent blue version of their popular multitool.
YoYoFactory always has the best brand presentation of any yoyo manufacturer, and this year is no different. Check out that light-up sign!
YoYoFactory’s offerings for 2013 are less focused on new product, and mostly find them refining their brand offering and offering new packaging that is specifically more retail-friendly. One new model is definitely of note, however…a new titanium yoyo called the Ricochet. Still no word on price or release date.
New packaging is available for the ONEStar, FAST 201, WHiP, Loop 360, and other models (as seen at the Hong Kong Toy Fair), giving most of the YoYoFactory line the same packaging footprint.
With their new packaging, brand direction, and amazing promotional tours, I think we can expect big things from YoYoFactory this year. With placement in Toys R Us and movement towards other mass market outlets, they’ve successfully made the transition from player’s favorite to major competitor in the world market.
