Shinya Kido wins Central Japan!

2009 World Champion Shinya Kido won the Central Japan Yo-yo Contest earlier today in Iwakura! Shinya and Hiroyuki Suzuki are of course the main contenders every year at CJ, and the current World Champion ended in second place this time.

In 2A, another former World Champion beat the current title holder. Yasushi Furukawa won the division, ahead of Shu Takada, who fell to the floor after his signature backflip, according to his own report.

In 3A, yet another former World Champion was the winner. Minato Furuta ended up in first place, ahead of Takayuki Nanba and Atsushi Kamoshita.

Current 4A World Champion Rei Iwakura took the title in his division, while Hiroyasu “Pon” Ishihara won 5A. Both were also the winners of the team division, as the Ishihara Dai Circus.

World Champions to Compete at the 2013 Central Japan Contest

Last year Hiroyuki Suzuki started an exceptionally victorious year winning the Central Japan regional contest. Can 2013 be as good? We’re about to find out, as CJ approaches once again.

In addition to Mickey, a number of other World Champions are also set to compete, including Shinya Kido in 1A, Shu Takada and Yasushi Furukawa in 2A, Minato Furuta in 3A, and Rei Iwakura in 4A.

Central Japan will take place on February 2nd in Iwakura. Check the full list of competitors below!

Hiroyuki Suzuki wins Central Japan Yo-yo Contest

Central Japan was held earlier today in Iwakura City, Japan. 1A was especially tough in the traditionally high-level contest, and Team YoyoJam member Hiroyuki Suzuki took the crown.

The other divisions had few finalists, but were also won by well known contest veterans: Hiraku Fujii won the 2A division; Jun Aramaki and Rei Iwakura, both from YoyoJam as well, won 3A and 4A respectively, and finally Hiroyasu Ishihara was the sole contestant and winner of the 5A division.
