Please Help The Chunn Family

April 29, 2016 By Steve Brown

Fellow yoyo player Christopher Chunn is a good dude, with a good family, and they could use our help right now.

A few weeks ago they got into a brutal car accident and completely totaled the family car. No one was seriously hurt, which is amazing, but their car is annihilated. Since Michigan is a “no fault” state, they’re pretty well screwed. And being a one-car family means they are now a no-car family.

I’ve got a family of five and we only have one car…in their same position my own family would be utterly screwed. I’m grateful they are all safe and sound, and my heart goes out to them during this massive setback.

There is a GoFundMe page up to help them raise funds for a new car. Their goal is only $5,000, so they aren’t even looking for a “new” car, just a decent used vehicle that will get them where they need to go. They aren’t asking for much, just what they need, and right now they need our help.

Please donate whatever you can, and just as importantly please share this around as much as you can. Thanks for your support…let’s take care of our own!

Citizens for Animal Protection Benefit Auction

December 17, 2013 By Steve Brown

image

Every year, Paul Cerny from One Upon A Tree yoyos (also the guy responsible for VooDama Dolls) donates to Citizens for Animal Protection. This year he’s auctioning off an absolutely beautiful Purple Heart JFF yoyo with acrylic inlay as a fundraiser to help boost his donation. 100% of the proceeds will go to CAP…this is a great cause, and a great way to pick up a beautiful yoyo and do some additional good.

Citizens for Animal Protection is a Houston area private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides shelter, adoption, foster care, rescue and other valuable services. CAP also provides humane education andcommunity outreach programs to encourage love and respect for animals.

September 18, 2013 By Steve Brown

Raymond Chow Harrison Lee

Everyone’s favorite superstar yoyo player, Harrison Lee, will be performing at an art gallery in Vancouver tomorrow night. Why an art gallery? Because the evening will feature a new body of work from Canadian historical artist Raymond Chow who has created a series of paintings of and inspired by Harrison! THERE WILL BE PAINTINGS OF HARRISON LEE FOR SALE! A portion of all sales at the event will support a local charity, the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund. Full details and press release below, and click through to view the event on the Fragrant Wood Gallery site, and  on Facebook.

Vancouver, British Columbia, September 2013 – Fragrant Wood Gallery is proud to present an “Evening with artist Raymond Chow,” taking place on September 19th. This event continues the recent Retrospective Art Exhibition held during the month of August 2013 that showcased Chow’s prolific work over several decades. Chow will speak briefly about his past artistic works and unveil a new body of art work that he has recently completed, including a new series of paintings inspired by young local “yoyo” artist Harrison Lee. Also taking part in the event is Vancouver based landscape photographer, Karen Cooper. New works of art will also be featured from artists from South and East Asia. A portion of proceeds from sales made during the event will go to support the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund, a local initiative that helps children in our very own community.

Please join us for the Evening Reception Thursday, September 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Fragrant Wood Gallery. The evening’s events will include piano performances by Chow and yoyo performances by Lee and promises to be a whimsical blend of art and entertainment. Note that the event will be photographed and filmed.

Ride For Ci – Duncan Toys Cystic Fibrosis Charity Benefit

June 20, 2013 By Steve Brown

Ride for Ci

This summer in an effort to help raise money and awareness for cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that critically affects the lungs, Dano the Mano (Announcer of Professional Wakeboarding’s “King of Wake” series), and Duncan Toys have joined forces with three-time Woman’s World Wakeboard Champion and two-time Queen of Wake Nicola Butler in her campaign to fight the debilitating disease.

In late January 2013, Nicola lost her best friend Cianne Naji to Cystic Fibrosis. Ci was an athlete, an artist, a person who lived her life to the fullest and Nicola was inspired to start something in Ci’s honor. In this spirit the Ride For Ci was born. RideforCi.com is a place where people can donate to help cure CF, learn more about the disease, and find out more about Cianne’s story. In addition to awareness efforts there will be Ride for Ci events to help link the wakeboard and CF communities in hopes of finding a cure together.

Duncan Toys has donated 1000 yo-yo’s to be sold throughout the 2013 season with 100% of the money supporting the Ride for Ci campaign. Dano the Mano will be selling these Genuine Duncan Yo-Yo’s which have special artwork designed by Nicola herself, throughout the season at most events he will attend. A limited amount are also available online through www.perfski.com.

Update from Dano:

“Dano the Mano here, and I just wanted to give a quick update on how the “Ride for Ci” charity efforts are going. It’s been about two months now since Duncan Toys sent out 1000 “Ride for Ci” charity Ignite yo-yos. Since Mid-April, I’m proud to say about half or more the yo-yos have sold, and already more then $3000 has already been donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. As of today we have more then three quarters of the $5000 goal! Support has been unreal so far! We’ve sold out at just about every event I’ve been to this year already, including the Nautique Wake Games and Masters, two stops on the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, the Malibu Riders Experience, and Performance Ski & Surfs Gravel Tour. Now there are still plenty of yo-yos, and events as the summer is just officially starting.”

Follow Dano on Instagram and Facebook for more details about events, appearances, and where you can find him to snag a Ride For Ci yoyo.

June 6, 2013 By Joe Mitchell

Dano The Mano

Danny Amir, a.k.a. ‘Dano the Mano,’ will be the guest on YoYoRadio on Friday, June 7th. Danny is the announcer for Professional Wakeboarding’s “King of Wake” series, but he’s also a yoyoer! Danny started yoyoing back in the yo-yo boom of the 1990’s and recently has rediscovered his love for yoyoing. He’s also partnering with Duncan to raise money for RideforCi.com, a charity raising money to fight cystic fibrosis. Ride For Ci is a campaign started by Nicola Butler, a 3-time World Champion professional wakeboarder who lost a close friend in 2013. Tune in Friday to hear Danny talk about yoyoing and wakeboarding.

The guys will also talk about what went on on National Yo-Yo Day, June 6th.

Updated: YoYoFactory Soul Doubt and new Video from Daniel Ickler

April 1, 2013 By André Boulay

Soul Doubt YoYoFactory Zammy

The yo-yo internet world is a buzz after YoYoFactory released a statement this morning via Facebook and Instagram:

YoYoFactory Announce

Apparently releasing tonight at 6:00 PM EST via YoYoExpert is the ‘Soul Doubt‘ – signature yo-yo of Daniel ‘Zammy’ Ickler? April Fools or the real thing? Time will tell.

UPDATE:

The yo-yo is revealed and is for a great cause too!

Why you might ask? Is this yo-yo just an elaborate April Fools Joke?! Absolutely not! The idea here is a simple one. Zammy is an amazing player with a big heart. In the past he has run the Yoyodrive raising money during the holiday season. YoYoFactory and Zammy decided what better then produce a limited yo-yo in his honor and help support a good cause.

Only TEN Soul Doubt have been made available for sale at $50 (each are individually numbered) and ALL proceeds (that is $500 total) are being donated to a charity that is close to Zammy’s heart. The Children’s Miracle Network. Zammy plans to personally hand deliver the check himself at a hospital in his area!

Zammy also released a new video today showing new tricks and his entrance back into the world of yo-yoing after a recent break.

Zammy presents: Daniel Ickler-2013

So, Its April of 2013 ( I uploaded this early and had it on private) and its been about two months since I left my sponsor of Onedrop. After that, some bad things went down that caused me to take a break from the internet (try to). Well, I’m back now. and I am here to begin rebuilding allover again.

For starters, I did a few things differently for this video. First I self titled to my real name, something that most yoyoers generally do not know. Secondly, when you are watching you may notice no trick titles. I decided against putting them in this since I hear it distracts people. I still name my tricks, as I have uploaded them all singly on my alt youtube for people to preview.

Also featured within the video is the new Toxic Strings “Zype” which is my signature yoyo string developed for 1a and Moebius in mind. Will be available in the near future!
