C3YoYoDesign’s Dávid Molnár is one of the best and most consistent players in Europe…at any given moment you can count on whatever he’s doing to be pretty cool. In this new video he’s showing off the C3YoYoDesign Glitter, and making it look pretty damn good. The horizontal combo starting at 1:31 is one of the smoothest and prettiest I’ve seen lately, and that slack combo at the end of the video is beautifully done. Great work, Dávid!
C3YoYoDesign + Russia + justyoing.ru = YES.
The announcement was made earlier today in great style, with this eye-candy of a clip video from Backspin.
C3YoYoDesign just dropped another great video, this one featuring Polish team member Maciek Cwynar.
There’s some quality counterweight play in this quick minute-plus video, and the horizontal regen at 0:45 is a really neat move. There’s also a great combination of deadspin toss moves (I’m making up the terminology as I go here, folks) starting at 0:51. I’ve really enjoyed those since the first ones I fiddled with in 2007, but it’s not a concept I’ve put much effort in to…so it’s really nice to see someone else doing something cool with it. Deadspin counterweight tosses like this have shown up as throw-away elements in a handful of contest freestyles over the years, but usually just as a quick transition rather than anything that’s expanded upon and explored.
If you’ve got examples of other deadspin counterweight moves, post links in the comments section and maybe we’ll expand on the idea for a future Trick Theory post.

Janos Karancz, 2013 EYYC 1A Champion, shows off the new Duncan Flipside yoyo. Between this, the C3YoYoDesign Alpha Crash, and the upcoming plastic yoyo from CLYW, it’s looking like a pretty good year for performance plastic yoyos. Considering YoYoFactory’s huge range of performance plastic models and their “Death to Metal” campaign from a few years ago, it looks like other companies are finally catching on and giving the market more low-cost alteratives to performance metal yoyos.
The Duncan Flipside yoyo features reversible spacers and a spare bearing, allowing you to flip from a standard Duncan small bearing to a larger one for unresponsive, modern play. As you can see from this video, in the right hands it works really well.

Every contest has winners, losers, upsets, underdogs, surprises, victories, and defeats. But my favorite part of a yoyo contest doesn’t actually happen that often…it’s when someone gets on stage and does something that is so far off the norm that their placement becomes irrelevant. I’ve always personally been drawn to the more esoteric aspects of yoyo play. And while I love a good competition-crushing freestyle as much as the next guy, it’s the people who push boundaries that get me up out of my seat and reaching for a yoyo.
The 2013 European YoYo Championships was a mind-blowing event. I watched as much of the live stream as I could and there were so many fantastic performances….the winners very much deserved their titles and it’s almost a shame there weren’t more awards to give out. But one freestyle in particular had me jumping up and flipping out completely, and it was from a player I’ve only recently even heard about.
So, I’m officially giving my own personal Honorable Mention to Ethan Wong Wing Hang of C3YoYoDesign for his mind-blowing freestyle that was about 90% horizontal finger-spin tricks. It was absurdly bold and risky, and he nailed a lot of it. I have no idea if he really thought it would score high enough to get him the win, but he had to have known just how badly it could have gone…and he went for it anyway.
Absolutely amazing. Congrats to Ethan on becoming part of C3YoYoDesign, and on his new signature model, the MO-vitation. Check out his freestyle below!
C3YoYoDesign has expanded their team again with the addition of Ethan “MoMo” Wong Wing Hang from Hong Kong. Ethan’s addition to team comes with the simultaneous announcement of his signature model, the MO-vitation, featuring a special hub area for his trademark finger spin moves. Check out the tutorial below, and congrats to Ethan and C3YoYoDesign!
Hungarian superhero Dávid Molnár fully earns his spot on the C3YoYoDesign team in this fantastic video, shot on a trip to Moscow. Dávid’s style is daring, with lots of small but high-risk moves thrown almost recklessly into combos. His trick density is pretty impressive, but not as much as the fluidity of his style.
