EYYC 2014 – Top 2A/3A Contenders
And now for a look at our top contenders in the 2A and 3A divisions at EYYC 2014! Both divisions are pretty thin this year, but there’s still plenty of talent to look forward to.
2A
Dave Geigle
Country: Germany
City: Berlin
Age: 26
Sponsored by YoYoFactory Europe
As the 2013 EYYC champion in the 2A division (and possibly the most advanced 2A player in Europe), Dave Geigle is the easy choice for this year’s top contender. We’re fully expecting a repeat from this this year, although
Matyáš Racek
Country: Czech Republic
City: Prague
Age: 20
With a 3rd Place finish at Czech Nationals, Matyas is a strong contender for Top 3 the sparse 2A division at EYYC.
3A
Michal Jaško
Country: Czech Republic
City: Dobruška
Age: 22
Returning 2013 EYYC champion Michal Jasko is our top contender for the 3A division…but with World Champion Hank Freeman judging the division this year, Michal will have to be on top of his game if he wants the top score.
Lorenzo Sabatini
Country: Italy
City: abbadia san salvatore (SI)
Age: 31
Sponsored by Oxygene
Last year’s 2nd Place winner, Oxygene’s Lorenzo Sabatini is a strong contender for the title this year, but Michal Jasko is going to be a tough act to beat.
Stephen Langley
Country: United Kingdom
City: Brighton
Age: 27
And rounding out our list of top contenders, last year’s 3rd Place winner! The Top Three from EYYC 2013 will all be competing in top form, and it’s going to be tough for any other players to crack this group of last year’s champs.

Ákos Linzenbold wins Hungarian Nationals!
The 2013 Hungarian National Contest was held last Saturday in Budapest!
Hungary is host to the 2013 and 2014 European Yo-yo Championships, and of course home of the current 1A World Champion János Karancz, and the yo-yo scene there is at an all-time high.

Hungarian title collector Dávid Molnár had little trouble taking home two more titles, winning 4A and 5A. Check the full results below, courtesy of retYo.eu.

The 2014 European Yo-yo Championships will be held once again in the PeCsa Music Hall, in Budapest, Hungary. The event will take place from February 21st to 23rd, 2014.
EYYC has quickly set a very high standard in terms of presentation and professionalism, and next year’s contest promises to be no different. With Prague hosting the 2014 World Yo-yo Contest, and the current World Champion being a local player, all attentions will be focused on Europe for the next months.
More information about the contest can be found on the EYYC 2014 Facebook event page.
2013 EYYC Videos From Fedor Karpenko & YoYoFactory.pl
Two more clips videos shot at the 2013 European YoYo Championships popped up over the weekend, and they give a great view of the event. Plenty of burly tricks and yoyo players hanging out…for those of us who missed the event it’s almost like being there, only without the smell of vodka sweat.

2013 European YoYo Championship: A Look at the Favorites
The 2013 European Yo-yo Championship is just around the corner! With 150 players registered for 1A, competition will be fierce and furious. Who will come out on top? Here’s YoYoNews’ list of highlights:
Magne Sætran
We start out with the Europe’s biggest surprise of 2013, Norwegian marvel Magne Sætran. His first videos came out in the last days of 2012, and he’s already being considered a strong contender for the European title this year. His practice video above shows why. Can Magne become European Champion in his first contest ever?
Grzegorz Wójcik
Contrasting with Magne is the proven record of Polish veteran Plamek, winner of last year’s EYYC, and obviously a strong contender for this year as well. With more and more players taking competition seriously in Europe, the champion’s task will not be easy!
János Karancz
Another crowd favorite is Hungarian string charmer János Karancz. His unique style sets him apart from the crowd, and with support from his home turf in Budapest, János is Hungary’s biggest hope!
Vashek Kroutil
Last year’s runner-up and 2010 European Champion Vashek Kroutil is back for more! His contest experience and refined showmanship will be put to the test once again.
Petr Kavka
Another member of the all-star SLUSNY team from the Czech Republic is Petr Kavka. Petr had some excellent results in 2012 and if momentum means anything, he’s surely among the favorite!
Other strong contenders registered include 2011 European Champion Tomász Bubák, Iceland’s Palli Guðmundsson, Poland’s Michał Zakrzewski and Maciek Cwynar, Italy’s Riccardo Fraolini, Russia’s Maxim Gruzintsev, and UK’s Yuji Shimokawa Kelly.
The open international division is no sideshow, either, with World and National champions going up against each other. Here are just a few of them: Tyler Severance, Ben Conde, Ryosuke Iwasawa, 3A legends Kentaro Kimura and Taichiro Higashi, and the two most prominent “finger spinners” in the scene: Kohta Watanabe and Ethan “Momo” Wong.
Stay with us as we’ll be covering the contest as it unfolds next weekend!
János Karancz and Dávid Molnár are the 2012 Hungarian Champions!
The 2012 Hungarian National Yo-yo Contest was held yesterday in Budapest, and the favorites did not disappoint!
In 1A, the winner and new Hungarian Champion is János Karancz, who brought his whole arsenal of mind-blowing tricks to the stage and ended up ahead of Dávid Molnár, Vilmos Zoltán Kiss, and Bálint “Vooper” Farkas.
Dávid Molnár also had a great day in Budapest, not only finishing 2nd in 1A, but also winning both 4A and 5A, making his stack of 2012 titles another bit taller!
An Open 1A division was also held, and Slusny teammates Vashek Kroutil and Petr Kavka from the Czech Republic ended up in the top spots.
