Yusuke Otsuka – Start The Riot Test

January 26, 2016 By Steve Brown

Rebellion, the budget yoyo line from YoYoRecreation, has it’s first bi-metal yoyo releasing soon! Yusuke Otsuka runs it through a hella clean prelim run in this quick video. Yusuke took 5th Place at last year’s World YoYo Contest, so I think it’s safe to say that he knows a thing or two about making a yoyo look good.

No word on price or release date yet, but considering the pricing of the Rebellion line I think it’s safe to say we can expect this to come in under $100. Sweet!

YoYo Drop – 2Sickyoyos Knight

November 28, 2015 By Johnny Le

2Sickyoyos Knight

2Sickyoyos joins in the bi-metal trend and announced their first bi-metal yoyo, the Knight. The Knight will be released at YoYoExpert and 2Sickyoyos on December 1st. Check out 2Sickyoyos’ announcement and full specs down below!

When it came to designing the Knight, I wanted to do something different than what is already available. So with some very intricate design work I have created a truly unique looking and playing Yoyo. A lot of work and time designing has gone into this yoyo and I’m sure it will show.

The Knight is a competition ready Bimetal design. It features a truly unique and first of it’s kind aluminum body/ stainless steel ring design. Unlike the other bimetal yoyos coming out with a ring on the rim or on the inside of the cup, the Knights ring is actually an indented ring that is fitted in the rim of the aluminum body.

This is a bimetal design that is made to slay competition. The power of spin to weight ratio is spot on which allows for long spin times. The Knight is full sized, wide, and light. The indented ring also gives this an insane amount of stability and keeps the yoyo in plane very well.

It features a very nice angular V shape that gives it a modern look. The cup features our 2sick ring that is known in our designs. It gives a ledge that helps guide fingerspins. The shape and cup both allow for the Knight to excel at all the different types of grinds. Features a C bearings and 19mm response. The gap is very large which allows for multiple string segments without being snaggy.

2SickYoYos Knight Specs:

Diameter: 56 mm
Width: 44 mm
Gap: 4.35mm
Weight: 63 grams
Bearing: Center Trac, Size C
Response: Red Silicone Pad
Price: $150

Sengoku Announces Masamune

November 4, 2015 By Johnny Le

Sengoku - Masamune

Sengoku is a new company based out of Nagoya, Japan whose focus is on producing premium competition yoyos. Following up on their first release, the Nobunaga, their sophomore release is called Masamune, and is named after a legendary swordsmith. Masamune, a bi metal created with stainless steel rings and a new material never before seen in the yoyo industry that is only available in Japan called Alumigo Hard. Here is what Sengoku owner Julio Robles has to say about the new alloy:

Alumigo Hard is an high tech alloy that is comparable to and even better than steel, relatively new, commercially available since around 2 years ago and made in Japan only.

In numbers, aluminum 7075 is far behind in all properties. Alumigo Hard also has excellent machinability and resistance to corrosion, and the most important feature is that unlike titanium Alumigo Hard is not extremely expensive.

This new alloy sounds absolutely amazing and the possibilities are endless. With all the talks about the new alloy, what about the yoyo itself? Well Sengoku has already prototyped and finalized the design of Masamune all while fully utilizing Alumigo Hard.

The walls are extremely thin and the Steel rings weighs more than 50% of the aluminum body weight. The rings were placed using nitrogen to shrink and make them able to withstand hits.

The Masamune will be available November 13th at select retailers, as well as direct through Sengoku.

Sengoku Masamune specs:

Width: 43.5 mm
Diameter: 55 mm
Gap: 4.4 mm
Weight: 64.8 grams
Bearing: YYR DS Bearing
Response: IrPads
Retail Price: $228 USD

YoYo Spotlight – Recess Weekend

October 9, 2015 By Steve Brown

Recess Weekend

Recess Weekend Specs:

Diameter: 54.5mm
Width: 41.18mm
Weight: 65.6 grams
Response: 19mm pad
Bearing: Size C (.250 x .500 x .187)

The Weekend is the first bi-metal release from Recess, the new company from World & National Champion Tyler Severance. The yoyo is stable, fast, and is well-suited for the highest levels of play in 1A, 3A, and 5A styles.

PLAY

The Recess Weekend is a fast, stable player that muscles through most tricks with ease. The shape is comfortable and familiar, and the Weekend always seems to have a bit more spin left than you expect. The Weekend really excels at both 1A and 5A, and the stainless steel rims are in a great spot to really maximize the weight distribution and keep the Weekend moving through even the craziest of plane-bending tricks. The extra-large finger spin area inside the cup does it’s job beautifully, and coupled with the bi-metal design the Weekend is a tremendous choice for players looking to up their horizontal game.

Recess Weekend

LOOKS

Available in several solid colors, the look of a bi-metal yoyo never gets old. Solid color anodizing with that shiny steel rim always looks good, and the Recess Weekend has a few other nice touches that set it apart. The non-symmetrical art is well outside the box for normal yoyo engravings, and keeping the finger spin cup clear of artwork not only helps with play but also gives the Weekend a unique look. The anodizing and engraving are both well done, and the fit of the rims to the body is smooth and clean.

VALUE

The Recess Weekend retails for $120, placing it out of the realm of a casual purchase but still a very reasonable price at the lower end of the spectrum for quality bi-metal yoyos. With a unique look, the backing of a World & National Champion, and plenty of play value, the Recess Weekend is worth the price for any serious competitor.

The Recess Weekend is available now at YoYoExpert.com.

C3YoYoDesign Announce Berserker SS

October 29, 2014 By Steve Brown

C3yoyodesign BerserkerSS

C3YoYoDesign has announced a massive upgrade to their Berserker model…the redesigned Berserker SS. Check out the specs and their full press release below, filled to the brim with exclamation points!!

C3yoyodesign 2014 New Benchmark – Bereserker SS(Stainless Steel)!!!

In early 2012, Berserker was released as the ultimate design for Peter Pong to capture his first International Champion in EYYC Open. This is a major milestone of C3yoyodesign and also create the new trend of Professional Bi-metal yoyo design for contest players. A year later, we re-design Berserker to Berserker RX. With more experience and better craftsmanship, “Berserker Series” set up the New Standard for Bi-metal design in the market.
Before the end of 2014, we combined Berserker and Berserker RX with some new mindset of yoyo design. After a year of prototyping and testing, we proudly present to you the NEW LEGENDARY DESIGN: Berserker SS(Stainless Steel)!!!

New definition of Power and Control:
Based on the “Step Curve” shape of previous versions, we reduced the curve area to increase the straight area for larger trapeze width, provide faster and easier control of speed.

On Berserker SS, weight of the stainless steel rings give an extreme weight distribution. Thin body gives enough strength to hold the rings without adding extra weight. To give the best performance, Genuine Dif-e-Yo KonKave bearing and larger diameter 8mm stainless steel axle is used. Compare with all the contest designs of C3yoyodesign, Berserker SS has the most powerful spin power, best spinning time and strongest binding. You can easily control without worrying about the loss of spin power!

Premier Craftsmanship:
Along the tradition of Berserker Series, Berserker SS is a Bi-metal design of Stainless Steel ring smooth and perfectly attached with the 6061 body.
Experience machining, anodizing and quality control, Berserker SS is the LEGENDARY MASTER PIECE either on the stage or off the stage!!!
BerserkerSS – SS is abbreviation of Stainless Steel.

BerserkerSS will have Team C3yoyodesign Japan member Shinya Kido and Shion Araya edition in the first release!!!

First Release! 2014.Nov.2!!! Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, EZONE!!!

C3YoYoDesign Berserker SS Specs:

Weight: 67.92 grams
Width: 42.71mm
Diameter: 55.33mm
Gap width: 4.2mm
Bearing: .250 x .500 x .187 in (Genuine Dif-e-Yo KonKave)
