The Donut Shop Mixtape Vol. 1 (NSFW)

June 28, 2013 By Steve Brown

Filmed at Rolling Pin Donuts in San Bruno, CA this great video shows Ryan Clark, John Jimenez, Ernest Kahn, Sonny Patrick, and Sean Stuart throwing down and enjoying themselves on a late-night donut run. Ernest throws some burly stuff as always, and it’s great to see Sonny in front of the camera instead of quietly tucked off in a corner somewhere.

Music is NSFW.

365yoyotricks.com Weekly Roundup

Brought to you mild obsessive compulsive disorder and a pathological desire to catalog yoyo tricks, it’s the 365yoyotricks.com Weekly Roundup!

Frontstyle’s not dead!

Spencer Berry demonstrates Zerber and AntiZerber, which may well be the greatest trick/anti-trick ever created.

I’m still fiddling with 1A wrist wraps.

Darnell! He’s alive!

Tape Measure variation, with a nod to Ed Haponik and Drew Tetz!

Moar wrist wraps!

And Rafael Matsunaga slacks off with this repeater.

See you next week!

365yoyotricks.com Weekly Roundup

It’s that time again….whereupon my friends and I do a little dance and pull some more tricks out of our butts!

I’ve always been a lousy 2A player, but I make up for it by co-opting 2A elements as 1A tricks.

Spencer Berry and Walter show off one of the classic foundational tricks that led us to where modern yoyoing is today….Rancid Milk.

There is nothing graceful about this weird trick.

I actually decided to sample the forbidden fruit a little this week and work on some counterweight.

Good luck with this bit of fixed axle nastiness from Ed Haponik. It’s ridiculously hard.

Start doing something you know, and then do it wrong and see what happens.

And Rafael Matsunaga gives us one of his favorite default tricks and it’s super pretty!

See you next week!

Walter Trailer

April 30, 2013 By Steve Brown

WALTER IS COMING!

The long-awaited signature model yoyo of Spencer Berry is almost here, and we’ve got a video to prove it.

Spencer, Blake Freeman, and Robbie Graham took some time to throw some production samples around and generally flaunt their awesomeness. If this doesn’t look like the most fun yoyo ever, you need to re-think your priorities.

Walter is available for pre-order at SpencerBerry.com.

Kiya Babzani Is Probably Your Coolest Friend

April 22, 2013 By Steve Brown

Kiya Babzani

Kiya Babazani is the co-founder of Anti-Yo, the owner and operator of Self Edge, and is always on the list of my Top Five Friends Doing The Coolest Stuff.

Proper Magazine just featured him and his obsessions in their Favourite Fives column, and it’s well worth clicking through and reading if you’re interested in just what gets a serial entrepreneur excited.

Bonus: Kiya want to know which holes to put the gems in.

365yoyotricks.com Weekly Roundup

Another week has come and gone, and yet we still made up another batch of tricks. How do we do it? COFFEE!

Colin Beckford reminds us that he’s a player to watch for 2013 with this nugget of excellence.

Spencer Berry gets small with some teeny tiny Magic Drops.

I took some advice from my son on what kind of trick to make up for the day. Never let a 7-year old make decisions for you unless you’re a fan of fart sounds.

Colin Beckford is back, with the last yoyo trick filmed in front of the old meeting space for the Cleveland YoYo Club.

Sometimes it really is as simple as “What if I did that twice instead of once?”

Not to be outdone by Spencer, I got even smaller.

And Rafael Matsunaga gets the hairy eyeball from a passing missionary while doing this excellent Figure 8 variation.

See you next week!

365yoyotricks.com Weekly Roundup

And here we go with another batch of tricks from 365yoyotricks.com guaranteed to be so good you’ll slap your mama!

It’s a joke! Get it!?

Spencer Berry never stops impressing us with his gloriously chaotic style.

I love tricks that require really unlikely components…or at least, those that are not likely to be kind to you on stage.

Darnell Hairston is flexible. But credit to Mark Mangarin who slipped this one out first without Darnell realizing.

This trick is hard and weird.

SEBBY!!!!

…and Rafael Matsunaga gives us a great repeater based off an old Alex Lozyniak trick.

See you next week!

365yoyotricks.com – Weekly Roundup

April 1, 2013 By Steve Brown

And once again, here are a fistful of yoyo tricks to make you popular with the ladies! (Or the fellas, we’re cool either way.)

Adam Brewster stares you down with unrivaled intensity with this Arrested Development reference trick.

Spencer Berry is all elbows, man.

Ed Haponik drops in for a guest spot and reminds us that Wood is Good.

Darnell Hairston, everybody. Because 365 is for the children. Puffy is good, but 365 is for the children.

NOBODY BEATS THE BIZ.

Drew Tetz just gets under your skin, doesn’t he? I’ve been messing with kickflips a lot lately. Also, dig that $200 Brioni tie that I got at the thrift store for $4!! SCORE!

And Rafael Matsunaga brings it home with an old trick that still looks new.

See you next week!

Time for your weekly roundup from 365yoyotricks.com!

Jake Bullock gives us some more counterweight yoyo goodness and shows off the AntiYo Kuntosh.

Spencer Berry points out that with yoyo tricks it’s not what you know, it’s how many times you can repeat it.

Ed Haponik trots out a ridiculously hard fixed axle banger.

Darnell Hairston swaggers out of this nice yoyo combo.

Jason Lee sends his greetings from Kyrgyzstan!

Ed Haponik likes flowers.

And Rafael Matsunaga hopes there’s no wind with this hypnotic slack repeater from way back.

365yoyotricks.com – Weekly Roundup

March 4, 2013 By Steve Brown

Rafael Matsunaga gives us a new twist on a Kohta Watanabe trick.

Jake Bullock points out that I used to be really salty about tech-heavy counterweight play.

Spencer Berry reminds us that he’s one of the guys responsible for what we consider modern 1A play with part of his destruction trilogy.

String folds and thumb mounts, string folds and thumb mounts. Why aren’t more people messing with these?

Darnell Hairston gets all emo on us with Abandoned.

Adam Brewster stops in for a guest spot with an “Arrested Development” reference.

I’m not done playing with this mount yet.

And Rafael gives us another reason to get back to playing frontstyle.

365yoyotricks.com – Weekly Roundup

January 9, 2013 By Steve Brown

I post a lot of videos here, but with 365yoyotricks.com putting out a new trick every day it seems a little much to repost those every day. So instead I’m going to do a weekly round-up, which should keeps things more manageable!

The 2013 season features myself, Spencer Berry, Rafael Matsunaga, Jake Bullock, and Darnell Hairston…in addition to as many guest tricks as I can fit in there.

First up we’ve got some early tech 5A from former Trick Innovator of the Year, Jake Bullock.

Spencer Berry brings back Magic Drop with this super flexible repeater

I make things needlessly difficult with this awkward and mostly pointless suicide:

Up-and-comer Darnell Hairston gives us a new trick inspired by Zach Gormley:

I pop in again to take one of Jason Lee’s best-known tricks and make it about 2/3 as cool:

Ed Haponik drops in for a guest spot to make us all reach for a wooden yoyo:

Brazilian National YoYo Master Rafael Matsunaga drops a 10-year old mount and makes it look good again:

And Jake Bullock brings it all down with a crazy-long tech 5A construct that leaves you with a lot of homework to do.

Remember to follow 365yoyotricks.com on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr for the daily updates. See you next week!
