After winning the National YoYo Championship in 2012, CLYW‘s Zach Gormley spent a few moments filming with Sector Y. In just a few minutes, he was able to demonstrate amazing tricks that consistently push the envelope of innovation. At under a minute-and-a-half, this video is a dense look at modern trick composition and theory. It will take several views to fully grasp the direction that Zach has taken with his unique style of yoyoing, and we can’t wait to see the influence of Zach’s style permeate the yoyosphere over the next several years.
The video description says it better than I could:
This is a “Girl Power” collaboration video between C3YoYoDesign and CLYW, two decent yoyo manufacturing companies. Starring Julia Aleksandra Gutowska and Ewelina Wejner (also known as Nuu Gatowsky), both using C3xCLYW H5Chief! Enjoy! HYPE THEM BOTH FOR EYYC 2013 FEMALE DIVISION!! GOOD LUCK GIRLS : *
Recorded with Canon 600D & GoPro HD Hero 3 Black Edition.
Edited with various Adobe software by Adam Paszke (Media Producer) & Mihai Suster (Edit and Video Assistant)
YoYoFactory Russia’s Igor Galiev just sent us this great b-side video to the recent Concept$ Ep.3 video. Looks like a short edit of tricks, mistakes, and general goofing around that didn’t make the cut for Concept$ Ep.3 but were too entertaining to throw away.
Keep an eye out for the forthcoming DVD from Igor’s “Perfect Elements” project…the recent Sacura Tapes video was listed as a trailer for the DVD release. No info on that release yet, but we’ll update as soon as we have more information!
Innovation Movement co-founder Isaac Sams just dropped this new video, filmed yesterday after a Cleveland YoYo Club meeting by Duncan Toys‘ Brandon Jackson. Any chance we could cram any more links to awesomeness in one sentence? Not likely.
As one of the young leaders of trick innovation in modern yoyoing, Isaac Sams is constantly pushing the boundaries of play. But not just forwards…the real strength of what Isaac and his Innovation Movement co-founder Zach Gormley are doing is the reaching back for elements and ideas that just aren’t finished developing yet and bringing them up to speed with new equipment, ideas, and concepts.
YoYoNews is incredibly excited to be working with Innovation Movement, and you can expect to see some amazing collaborations coming soon.

Using the “Keep Yo Soul” theme song for the current Hyper YoYo Campaign, it looks like Team Shaqler did an amazing job of getting a ton of kids interested in becoming yoyo players.
Having performed at the World Hobby Fair in Japan I can say that it’s pretty intense….it’s a consumer-based trade show (similar to Comic Con) with upwards of
10,000 50,000 kids barreling through to see the latest and greatest in Japanese toys, games, and hobbies. Companies like Bandai, Sanrio, Capcom, Takaratomy, Konami, Nintendo, and more show up with their absolute best to capture the hearts (and yen) of Japan’s massive kid market.
Many vendors offer special limited editions, available only at the show and this year it looks like Bandai offered a very special edition of their popular Hyper Cluster yoyo (pic below). Retailing for only 2,310 yen (about $25 USD), this white, gold, and black limited edition Hyper Cluster is sure to be popular with kids and collectors.
It’s pretty hard to discuss Guy Wright’s yoyoing without launching into an endless parade of hyperbole. Actually, maybe that’s exactly how we should describe it….an endless parade of hyperbole. Because with every single movement, segment, and transition I’m pretty sure I can hear the entire yoyo community collectively jumping out of their seats and yelling “THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!”
Using the new Amplifier yoyo from his sponsor company, SPYY, Guy Wright once again reminds us that tricks should be pretty, yoyoing should be fun, if it doesn’t repeat then you probably don’t need it.
CLYW‘s Zach Gormley is starting the new year on top with his first contest win of the season at the Northern Colorado YoYo Invitational. Zach is THE player to beat this year, and good luck trying because from this clip he looks unstoppable. From his freestyle performances to his work with Isaac Sams and Innovation Movement and the hugely successful release of his signature yoyo, the Arctic Circle….Zach, you have our attention!
Korean player Cha Dam Dae tears it up in this new video for sOMETHING. His style still seems really young and underdeveloped, but he’s already got a tremendous amount of skill. Plus, he leads off with a frontstyle combo…which hardly anyone does anymore.
Look out for great things from Cha Dam Dae!
Innovation Movement pulls more talent from Russia…amazing. Heads up though, the music is NSFW.
YoYoFactory has a history that goes back almost as far as modern yoyoing in Russia. In 2007 we sent the first international Pros into Russia for more than a decade. We have watched, and supported the growth of one of the youngest and most active YoYo scenes on the planet. YoYo in Russia is no longer a new novelty, it is a real sport. This is our Team.
New concepts video from Igor Galiev and Andrey Glukhov. I really enjoy listening to players that I don’t know discussing what they are doing…it’s as much of an insight into their creative process as the tricks themselves.
The East Japan Yo-yo Contest A-Block was held on January 5th in Tokyo, and Hiroshi Osada brings us this glimpse of the event in his clip video.
Recent Japanese contest clips show an interesting mix between the 1999 Hyper Yo-yo generation and the kids who started throwing thanks to the new Hyper Yo-yo campaign of the past couple of years.
