YoYoExpert has officially announced the full line-up for their 2013 trading card series, as well as details for a pretty massive series of giveaways, hidden inside packs of the cards. They’ve managed to relay this in what is possibly the tallest yoyo-related graphic ever posted online, but lemme tell you…it’s totally worth all the scrolling.
There are a total of 65 cards this year, including players from YoYoFactory, Yomega, Duncan, YoYoJam, CLYW, SPYY, C3 YoYoDesign, 365yoyotricks.com, OneDrop, Werrd, and more…including three very special 3-D Legend Cards featuring Jason Lee, Paul Escolar, and John Higby.
Special “Winning Ticket” cards are mixed in randomly to the foil packs that each contain 3 random trading cards…and you get one of these foil packs with every single order of $50 or more placed at YoYoExpert.com. If you find a Winning Ticket…you win the prize associated with that ticket…it’s just that simple!

SpinGear just tweeted about this new offstring yoyo by World Champion Tsubasa Onishi. Looks…well, it looks a lot like another huge offstring yoyo for serious competitors. That style of play doesn’t really lend itself to a lot of variety in the equipment. I mean, you can shoot for different colors but even then….you’re really kinda stuck with delrin because there just isn’t enough demand to justify molding versus machining. But according to Spin Gear, there will be additional weight kits for this yoyo available later, so that’s pretty cool.
Width: 53.8 – 55.0 mm (depending on gap adjustment)
Response: YYF Slim Pad
And really, what announcement about a Japanese yoyo would be complete without a hilariously confusing description, courtesy of Google Translate:
Model with respect to the shape of the creative ingenuity that was used to Kamui Onishi players prefer. It is the model that brought, was realized in the factory planning Onishi players themselves are produced in domestic. Endorsement is uncompromised performance ease of use that made the prototype himself until satisfactory.
Pick one up at SpinGear, and while you’re there you should get some Hyper YoYo stuff. Because seriously, it’s all awesome.
AdegleYoYos from Taiwan just posted some new pictures of their upcoming Macaron Looping yo-yo that seems like it is nearing an official release. Considering how amazing the PSG and Asteroid are for the price this one should also be quite the exceptional looping yo-yo!

As we posted before, HSpin is officially no more. To clear up some of the last company debt, they’ve released a very small handful of beautifully anodized yoyos with some of the best colorway names yet (personal favorite: She Killed Him On A Meadow In Summer) that you can scoop up for $169 each. Each piece has special engraving with the dates 1997 – 2012…the years that HSpin was operational. (Note: sales are through the PayPal Buy Now button at the bottom of the page…just choose the model you want from the drop-down menu.)
I remember throwing the first production release of the HSpin Handquake at a Kite Trade Associate show in Clearwater, Florida in 1998. It was a tiny, weird little thing but we all gathered around Eric Wolff and marveled at how elegant and precise it was. None of us really like the way it played, but we couldn’t help but be absolutely enthralled by the quality and simplicity.
I’ve known Chris for a long time now. He’s a good guy with a beautiful family and a gentle heart, and I wish him well on this next chapter in his life. So long, HSpin!
Rick from MadHouse YoYos just sent us this group shot of all three colorways of their new RAD yoyo, shipping to stores this week. This is your first look at all three colorways of their new RAD yoyos…and viewing all three together like this might actually be enough to blind you.

Our friends at Hong Kong-based C3 YoYoDesign have released BTH, the 220-gram yoyo used to set the 2012 World Records for Longest Sleeping YoYo. C3’s own Simpson Wong used the BTH at the 2012 World YoYo Contest to set a new record of just over 30 minutes.
This is definitely not for everyone. In fact, I’m going to say it’s not for most people. I’ll even go a step further and say that I would probably seriously hurt myself with this thing. Just thinking about throwing it makes my wrists hurt.
But hats off to C3 for the pure genius of this design, and for being just crazy enough to produce and release them. Wow.
YoYoExpert has posted a peek at their 2013 trading card series…and this year’s lineup is 65 cards, their biggest yet!
I’m incredibly proud to also tell you that a few players will have special 365yoyotricks.com cards in the series…I’m literally grinning from ear-to-ear right now just typing about it. This year’s series is shaping up to be fantastic, and I can’t wait to get my set.

From Oxygen’s Facebook page – sneak peak of their new yo-yo. Similar shape to their very popular and high end titanium versions but this time in all aluminum!
Did you look for an easy to carry Syzygy or Ti 9.06? Here is their little brother, the Oxygène io, featuring same precision and elegant shape as its predecessors on full aluminum halves. Three soft colors on a hand made sandblasting.

ILOVEYOYO just posted a sneak peak of their new yo-yo the NILE with a great explanation of their design process. Always interesting to see why a design comes out a certain way and what the focus was in planning the yo-yo out.
We decided to take a dive into the centerweight-trend and Frank began designing a new yoyo he called Nile. Here are his notes on the design along with a first CAD render image.
As many people suggested, I’ve designed a yoyo in the modern vein. More centerweight and thus higher RPM that is. Its all about getting the right balance between spintime and RPM. So we needed to shift some weight to the center to get higher RMP value.
So, here is our first dip into high RPM yoyos.

As you can tell, we have this typical yoyo in a yoyo design here. The inner rim area has a diameter 36.44mm the outer diameter of the inner yoyo is about 45mm. The whole rim stretches over 9.78mm. I’m not quite sure if this is enough to make a huge difference playwise. But we’ll see.
The rims have linear elements (parallel and collinear) that reduce visual tension. I was going for round lipped rims first but that way it got way too heavy. In order to maintain a small (diameter) inner yoyo, I had to cut away a part of the rim, thus it is flat now. I had difficulties getting the outer rim thin enough to shift enough weight to the center while still maintaining a good haptic. We had this issue with the fist Lynx prototype as well: it had too thin rims at the outermost point. Therefore it felt quite unpleasant and gave a cheap impression. Both rims might be useable for thumb grinds. However, this is just a design study, we have yet to try it out once it is machined.
A high wall (flat area around the response area) is more or less absent this time. That should prevent the yoyo from tilting too much if the strings are not perfectly parallel. I’m not into sidestyle, as a matter of fact, I can’t do a single trick sidestyle. But this feature should make it easier to play sidestyle. Correct me if I’m wrong.
The profile turned out to be quite traditional, what is good for a competition yoyo, I guess. But basically it follows the inner shape (horn to rim). That’s quite a difference for me. Usually, I focus on the profile first. The inner area just arises from working out the desired weight. But this time, it’s different. The top area of the profile meets the rim in a Lio-ish kind of way. I really like that, it should result in a quite comfortable hold.
Overall, the design incorporates flat and curved surfaces, I tried to keep it as consistant as possible and threw in some linear parts here and there as you can see in the profile and from the horn to the rim.
I took some inspiration for the name from one of my favorite metal bands – Nile. I was listening to their music while designing the yoyo. The name also serves as great basis for an awesome engraving that has yet to be created. The Egyptian mythological theme will be realized by a certain coating or color way.
Prototype will be made in the next weeks. I hope to get it before the holidays.
More information will posted soon. Stay excited!
