The only thing I love more than Japanese television, is Japanese television featuring yoyo players.
The Hildy Brothers have released their second wooden yoyo, and this one is a butterfly-shape! The Currier is hand-turned out of beautiful purple heart wood, with a walnut axle. Laser engraved with the Hildy Brothers logo, these are incredibly limited and are available now for only $30. Absolutely gorgeous…get one now before they’re gone!
A quick look at the Duncan Toys 2013 Wholesale Catalog shows a new product that is definitely geared more towards yoyo players than the mass market…plastic and aluminum weight rings. The rings are designed to snap-fit into any yoyo that uses FH Zero caps…such as the Hayabusa, Hornet, Raptor, Flipside and more! Available in Spring 2013, these are expected to retail for around $5 per set for the plastic weights and $10 per set for the aluminum weights. The exact weight of the rings is not settled yet, as Duncan is still finalizing prototypes.
The always amazing Bryan Figueroa has announced “Unknown”, an apparel and accessories company that is geared towards yoyo players. The first product to be released is the Descender, a leather yoyo sling designed to accommodate everything from undersized to offstring throws with easy access. All Unknown products will be hand-made in California.
Innovation Movement once again brings us some amazing work from fresh new talent. Great shots, great tricks!
YoYoFactory always has the best brand presentation of any yoyo manufacturer, and this year is no different. Check out that light-up sign!
YoYoFactory’s offerings for 2013 are less focused on new product, and mostly find them refining their brand offering and offering new packaging that is specifically more retail-friendly. One new model is definitely of note, however…a new titanium yoyo called the Ricochet. Still no word on price or release date.
New packaging is available for the ONEStar, FAST 201, WHiP, Loop 360, and other models (as seen at the Hong Kong Toy Fair), giving most of the YoYoFactory line the same packaging footprint.
With their new packaging, brand direction, and amazing promotional tours, I think we can expect big things from YoYoFactory this year. With placement in Toys R Us and movement towards other mass market outlets, they’ve successfully made the transition from player’s favorite to major competitor in the world market.
