Opting out of competing at this year’s PNWR yielded arguably the most fun I’ve had at a yo-yo competition
and after watching this video, we agree. Looks like PNWR was an absolute blast, and huge thanks to Keiran for putting together such a beautiful love letter to this contest.
Begleri are the latest skill toy to get popular with yoyo players (sorry kendama, it was nice while it lasted), and of course that means that quite a few of us (myself included) are now spending way too much time on YouTube checking out begleri videos. Today’s digging yielded this gem from long-time skill collector Cizrek with some homemade begleri that look super fun! So check out some great tricks, and if you’re so inspired you can click here for instructions on how to make your own or click here to pick up a really nice pre-made set from the folks at Monkeyfinger.
The Scales Collective is at it again with another podcast that brings an influential force in the yoyo industry to the front. Seth Peterson talks with Keiran Cooper and Patrick Canny about Save Deth, the first lifestyle brand in the yoyo industry and a huge creative force in the “mid school” period just after the Hyper YoYo boom died out.
Seth Peterson is one of the most influential yo-yo players of all time, but unlike most, it’s for more than just his tricks.
Seth led a very inspiring yo-yo movement called Save Deth, in which he had travelled with Dave Poyzer all over the United States and filmed amazing yo-yo content, whether it be at contests or just in a casual scene. On top of this, Seth’s attention to design and detail in all aspects such as clothing and content is something that lots of people worldwide learned and stemmed off of. To call him an innovator is an understatement; he is a pioneer.

Ernest Kahn knows how to make yoyoing look fun, doesn’t he? Check out his latest repeater tutorial, produced by CLYW.
Yoyo used is the CLYW Igloo.
OMG BEN CONDE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN WE MISSED YOU BUDDY! Ben Conde finally pops up again with a new video (and it’s been so long we nearly missed it, totally our fault), and we get the double bonus of him hanging out with World YoYo Champion Gentry Stein and European Offstring Champion Quentin Godet, and we get a sneak peek at his new yoyo from YoYoFactory. Ok, so that was worth the wait, I guess.
One of the best parts of heading to a contest are the house parties that spring up around them, and the videos we sometimes get from them. PNWR gave us a pile of serious talent crashing at Will Prater’s house, including Tessa Piccillo, Nehemiah Peterson, Alann “Hotpocket” Herrera, and AJ Garcia.
Unspoken Project dropped a limited prototype run for the Riddle last month to great feedback, and now they’re finally releasing a full production batch. The Riddle is the first release from this new company from Justin Bui, Noah Burrows, and Alexis JV. We got our hands on an early prototype of the Riddle, and it’s a fun yoyo that shows a lot of potential for this young brand…definitely worth picking up! The Riddle drops tonight (March 17th) at 5 PM PST, only on their website. Check out specs and info below!
After many months of prototyping, we are proud to finally present to you the Riddle! With the help of our investors, who preordered Riddles, we are finally able to share this yoyo with you.
The Riddle is an H shaped yoyo with a scalloped design, initially designed by Justin Bui and tweaked to perfection with the help of Noah Burrows and Alexis JV. The Riddle was designed to be mid-sized, at 54mm, with enough rim weight to be stable and long spinning but light enough, at 63.5g, to remain nimble. The Riddle was crafted from 7068 aluminum primarily for durability, but also to optimize rim weight.
We really hope you like it. All of our efforts have been put into this yoyo and it has sure gone a long way since the first prototype of it. We can’t put this thing down and will bet you that you won’t be able to either.
