Dice Grind is a unique trick. It can be tough, especially if your horizontal skills aren’t too strong, but it can be a ton of fun to do. If you’re performing in front of a non yoyo crowd, this trick looks like magic and, if you sell it right, you’ll always get a big reaction.
This is the most basic of the Dice Grind tricks. You can do all kinds of hops and throws between hands, under the leg, behind the back, etc.
Duncan Toys has announced the first annual Duncan International YoYo Championship, to be held at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida (located in Downtown Disney).

The International Yo-Yo Championship was created by classic toy brand Duncan to bring together the world’s best yo-yo professionals for an annual can’t-miss competition of innovative performances and stellar tricks. This Championship brings together two of the most legendary entertainment enterprises, Duncan Toys Co. and The Walt Disney Company, in creating a new tradition: crowning the International Yo-Yo Champion. In celebration of this exciting partnership, the IYYC will take place at the House of Blues Orlando in the Walt Disney World Resort, the globe’s most visited vacation destination.
Join Duncan and Disney for the Championship’s very first edition, which launches this August! More than 20 countries wil be represented by 100 professionals in a demonstration of the power of the world’s oldest toy.
On August 1st and 2nd 2014 the best yo-yo players from around the globe will compete for over $17,500 in total cash prizes and the title of International Yo-Yo Champion. Registration will open June 1st and will remain open until July 25th. Competition divisions include 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A.

From new company Whimsy, the Poker Face is a well-made and incredibly smooth player from this first-time yoyo manufacturer. Heavily rim-weighted for long spins and tremendous stability, the Poker Face spins absolutely dead smooth – so smooth that it’s easy to underestimate how much spin you have left. The Poker Face is one of the absolute best looking releases of 2014, featuring some of the best branding and packaging we’ve ever seen.The yoyo features a semi-flexible plastic sidecap that is securely mounted inside the halves, with custom art design to look like a playing card character doing a yoyo trick. The packaging mimics the look of the box of a deck of playing cards and the entire presentation is fantastic, especially for the first release of a new company. The anodization is dark and subtle, with a black and red acid wash (Hearts) or black and blue acid wash (Spades) that looks great up close. It’s even available in a Flocked edition that is basically velvet-covered, which is pretty awesome and hasn’t been seen on a yoyo since the 1970s!
