YoYoFactory’s Patrick Borgerding was in attendance at the 2014 Mexican National YoYo Contest (full results here), and he rocked out a 5+ minute 3A demo, much to the crowd’s delight. Patrick is definitely one of the leading forces in 3A play, and with his new signature model on the way from YoYoFactory it’s safe to see we can expect to see a lot of him at contests this year.

2014 European YoYo Meeting
The 12th Annual European YoYo Meeting will be held May 1st – 3rd in the small town of Częstochowa, Poland. This low-key event is a great opportunity for yoyo players to get together, hang out, and have a great time together outside of the contest atmosphere. With some awesome little cabins and beautiful natural surroundings, the European YoYo Meeting looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun for everyone in attendance.
For only €65 ($89 USD) you get:
- Accomodation for 3 nights (May 1st – 4th, 2014) in Zlota Gora Hostel
- 3 breakfasts (May 2nd – 4th, 2014)
- EYYM’s Official T-Shirt
- Ticket for the Adventure (kayak trip to Mstów, barbecue and bonfire place, football pitch)

Owen Ekblad – Red Shorts
This is just a short, single combo trick dump of a video but Owen Ekblad rocked it, and it got my attention.
Yoyo used is the Rockefeller by Square Wheels YoYo Company.
Michael Kurti – Puffin Freestyle
In the same style as the recent video from Zach Gormley, CLYW drops a combination of contest and practice footage from the indomitable Michael Kurti. Michael has some of the most intricate and difficult transitions in the 1A game right now, and this video teeters between inspiringly brilliant and daunting as hell.
Yoyo used is the Puffin 2 by CLYW.
Ryosuke Kawamura Presents: Takumi Yasumoto & Takafumi Endo
Ryosuke Kawamura has dropped two more videos featuring fresh talent from Japan, featuring the skills of Takumi Yasumoto & Takafumi Endo.
Takumi-san shows off some really clean 3A and offstring play in his video part, nailing some pretty difficult tricks so clean you’d think he’s been doing this for decades. Yoyos used are the Aeronaut and Triplet by YoYoRecreation.
Takafumi-san has some absolutely mind-boggling technical counterweight play going on in this video…some great reversals and really impressively dense combos that seem pretty amazingly difficult to hit consistently. Yoyo used is the Y-Factor by One Drop.
Luke Finnell – ILLuminate
Luke Finnell is dropping bombs in his newest video, “ILLuminate”. Coming just a couple of days after this stellar video from his brother, it’s pretty awesome to see this much talent coming from one family.
Yoyos used are the Hubstack Afterglow and Shutter by YoYoFactory.
R.I.P. Robert Tamayo
We’re very upset to report that 2011 Philippine National YoYo Champion Robert Tamayo has passed away. He was admitted to the hospital approximately one month ago, and on Friday, March 28th he died from complications related to meningitis. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.
Robert was really a silent guy and shy person. But when he played yoyo, you saw a totally different Robert. Speed, technique and style; his performances really got the attention of the crowd. I wish he had more time to live and represent our country by joining contest outside the Philippines.
– Hiro Koba (Kitty String)
I met him briefly a couple of times…he was a very serious player. Really “in it to win it”. I remember him competing at the 2011 Philippine National Contest, and he was really focused on that win. It was nice to see him win…he really deserved it.
He was a really good kid. I know he had many friends within the Flipspin community, and I was lucky to have the pleasure of knowing him. He truly loved everyone and especially yoyoing.
– Ernest Kahn (CLYW)
Coleman Weimer – Coffee Store
Here’s a real gem of a video from Coleman Weimer, filmed in his father’s coffee shop. I’m not sure what I like more; the look of that coffee shop, or the look of Coleman’s tricks.
Yoyo used is the One Drop x CLYW Summit.
Mark Mangarin – Come Through (NSFW)
Mark Mangarin is the second CLYW player to drop a really damn good video part in the past 24 hours with NSFW music. I don’t know if he and Petr Kavka are giggling over Skype and planning this stuff or what, but Mark Mangarin is one of the most unsung heroes of modern technical yoyoing and you should probably watch this video at least a half dozen times.
Yoyo used is the Chief by CLYW. String is Kitty String Fat.
Petr Kavka – Yeti (NSFW)
Slusny dropped a new video featuring Petr Kavka, and it’s burly. The music is NSFW, and the tricks are *NSFA.
YoYo used is the Yeti by CLYW.

YoYoFactory Too H.O.T. Prototype Launch Video
YoYoFactory dropped a new video to promote tonight’s release of the Too H.O.T. prototypes at YoYoExpert, and Harold is in top form, running this prototype of the Too H.O.T. through some of his trademark moves.
Tune in tonight for the live chat with Harold at 9 PM EST, and then hit YoYoExpert.com for the release at 10 PM EST.
Jack Finnell – The Dog House (NSFW)
‘The Dog House’ features some promising play from newcomer Jack Finnell. He’s got a good sense of humor, and some decent trick construction and execution…definitely a player to keep an eye on.
Yoyo used is the Bonfire by CLYW.
Ryan Gee – Shhh…..Clickers
Here’s another quick blast of weirdness from Ryan Gee, who might officially be the DEVO of yoyo players at this point.
Yoyo used is the Code 2 by One Drop.
Duncan Toys Strix – Chinpan Edition
Duncan dropped what is an early contender for Product Video of the Year for an artist edition of Kota Watanabe’s signature yoyo, the Strix.
The Chinpan Edition Strix is all-black, with engraving of an original owl illustration by Japanese artist Chinpan. The promo video for this is balls-out amazing, featuring Kota-san dressed in all-white with black feathered gloves and some solid animation and editing.
Limited to only 50 pieces, this yoyo will retail for 9800 Yen (about $96 USD), and will be available Friday, March 28th at 7:00 PM local time (that’s 6:00 AM EST), only at YoYoSpaceAs.com.
