Isaac Sams & Drew Tetz (that’s me!) of Duncan Crew USA go head-to-head, bringing equal parts conceptual 1A and yoyo-tinted kendama moves. We agreed that battles are more interesting with a unifying theme, and so our 1A tricks are crafted around the idea of emphasizing pauses in yo-yo tricks. Check out Innovation Movement on Facebook for more progressive yo-yoing from Isaac.
Don’t forget to tell us who you voted for and why in the comments section below – we’re gonna give away a Pro-Z and a Duncan Heritage DVD to whoever writes our favorite comment! Stay tuned for a chance to win more Duncan goodies, including a BarraDrewda… and if you missed my battles with Spencer and Takeshi, go back and check out those, too!
They both were fun to watch but I have to give drew the win. As far as videos go he had the more impressive moves on both the kendama and yoyo. Plus that music track was sweet. Which had me hooked from the beginning. The thing that solidified my vote though was his ‘sweet innocent’ get up but lookin like a badass pullin tricks. Respect to both though. While I get discouraged sometimes watching these types of vids it also helps me keep in perspective that at one point you were where I’m at. Helps to see what yoyos are really capable of. Which just gets me excited again. Keep it up.
I picked drew because of his smooth stalls and the incredible reverse bird thing at the end,
Isaaaaccccc all day. He’s more buttery than butter.
It’s gotta be Drew, crazy flow and a flat pack kendama wins it all day long 🙂
I’ll have to give my vote to Isaac; however, still love you Drew. Fun stuff.
Isaac got my vote. His seemingly simple body manipulations in yo-yo and kendama tricks add a great visual effect. You can have never have too much cross-arm…or straight jacket, for that matter.
Very, very close! Isaac’s 1A was just enough tech, while smooth enough to blow my mind. the part right around the 10sec. mark almost made me think the tape was rewound.
Drew’s 1A was smooth, and as always, had that Drewiness that only his tricks have haha. The unresponsive stalls/dumptrucks pushed it over the edge of the cliff of awesomeness into the ravine of replayability….seriously had to watch it like 10 times. The kendama trick reminiscent of his 5A wraps put the icing on the cake.
Both guys implemented the “pause” concept well, just in different ways. I think this is was the most difficult vote I’ve had to make out of all these battles lately.
Duncan=awesome
I love both these players style so much so it was really tough to pick but in the end Issac pulled it off for me. He’s got some of the most intelligent tech tricks in yoyoing right now and this trick only helps support his case. The asynchronous wrap illusion was way cool and the bind was top notch. Plus the straight jacket catch to lighthouse on a raw tama?! That’s tough.
Drew and Issac both deserves S-ranks for their 1A and kendama tricks. Awesome battle all-around!
Drew. Because holy cow did you watch that? I mean yeah Isaac’s stuff was incredible but wow Drew’s tricks. This is exactly what we need to see more of in yoyoing, insane tricks that aren’t all about string hits. It just looked beautiful, is insanely hard, and made me watch it over and over. Both of they Kendama tricks were nuts too but I think Drew’s pulled ahead just by a bit.
I liked Drew’s the best. It was a lot of fun to watch, as the tricks were very unique. It also featured some stuff that I’ve been experimenting with as well (unresponsive dumptrucks and stalls for the win!). I also thought that the 5a-esque kendama was very unique and interesting. Nice job Drew! Unfortunately, I can’t give a “real” vote because I don’t have facebook or twitter.
Had to give it to Drew. His use of the kickflip is just too smooth and fun to watch! Plus his kendama tricks look as if he’s not even trying! On a 3D printed kendama no less! Mad props to both of them though!
