The Hyper YoYo Festival was in full swing this weekend, with special guest performances from US National Champion Patrick Mitchell, Czech National Champion Vashek Kroutil, and World Champions Team Shaqler. Looks like YoYoFactory was in top form at this year’s Hyper YoYo event in Japan. The website for the 2013 Bay Area Classic is up, and there have been a couple of important changes this year. Sounds like a nice step forward for the event…details are below and at BayAreaClassic.com. For those who don’t know, the Bay Area Classic is one of the longest running and most prestigious contests in the United States. Since 1998, the BAC has been the player’s choice of US contests and for many years was considered a more difficult win than US Nationals.
The changes to the event for this year should go a long way towards smoothing out the contest for everyone. Details below!
Here are some important changes for the 2013 Bay Area Classic!
1. Registration and Registration Fees are ALL ONLINE this year. So we won’t have any registration for freestyles on contest day.
2. Prelims are now off stage! You will have 15 songs to choose from for your Prelim Freestyle: http://bayareaclassic.com/
1a-prelims-music-and-rules/ 3. Your freestyle group (1A Prelims) and freestyle order will be posted a few days before the contest so that you know exactly when you have to go up!
Why the changes this year? Our venue has limited us to 6 hours of live music time and we wanted to make sure to do it the fastest most efficient way possible yet still give you a great day and weekend of yoyoing :).
Poland’s Winter Freestyle Competition is quickly becoming one of the most respected international yoyo events in the world, and our friends at Backspin do an excellent job covering the event. This official video from the contest features everything you could hope for in a contest video…great players, top-level tricks, and slow-motion crotch-shots of European breakdancers. Featuring Vashek Kroutil, Janos Karancz, David Molnar, Igor Galiev, and more.
Telkes Jozsef seems to be pretty enamored of the Duncan Barracuda…he dropped both of these videos inside of a week to show it off. His play style still has room to mature and tighten up, but it’s always great to see a younger player who isn’t afraid to lay it all out on video.
Nice video work, and a lot of fun…well worth the look!
Three-time Mexican National YoYo Champion Paul Kerbel jams out a solid 1:30 combo with the YoYoFactory Ricochet in this burly video. Paul’s clean, smooth play and inimitable style are on display here, and he’s the latest YoYoFactory player to make their new titanium Ricochet look really damn good.
CLYW‘s shortest member, Harrison Lee, is sometimes prone to wandering the streets of Vancouver and spontaneously doing amazing yoyo tricks. Lucky for us, this time someone got them on video.
Not sure what’s better…knowing that we have another generation of yoyo players coming up to take the reins, or getting this much of an advance look at our future overlords.
