Colin Leland (OneDrop Project, TMBR Toys) has teamed up with old-school player Adam Bottiglia and his website, YoTricks.com, to produce a new metal yoyo called “Civility”.
This yoyo is being crowdfunded through Kickstarter, and has already reached 162% of its funding goal with 30 days to go!
You can still pledge and pre-order a Civility for only $75, though, so get in now and guarantee yours before production begins.
whens it coming out?
No idea, but you can contact them here: http://yotricks.com/contact/
I thought the deal was that they could post harder tricks on the site if they used a more advanced yoyo.
I think me is wrong.
I think we’ve established that Me is a troll with an axe to grind.
Maybe I’m just being Me, but it’s “designed to help players learn the most advanced yoyo tricks on YoTricks.com” might just be the most absurd selling point imaginable. There are countless yo-yos (which already exist) that retail for under $35, and are capable of all these tricks and more. Call it a community effort or a publicity stunt, but all this is going to do is convince new yo-yoers that they need to spend a minimum of $90 to learn these tricks. It might be a dandy playing yo-yo (spoiler: they all spin just as long) but it strikes me as a pretty dishonest way to kickstart a new yo-yo, by promoting it as step 1 to learning to be a better yo-yoer. There’s nothing civil about a $90 price tag.
I agree, that’s the first thing I noticed when I saw the price point. I think $50 is the highest they should have priced this at if they are trying to market a yoyo for new players to learn on.
Maybe I’m just being Me, but if you’re going to cut-and-paste this everywhere anyone mentions this project, use your real name.
