The year is still not yet over for the fantastic CLYW! The Canadian manufacturer is closing a superb 2012 announcing their newest team member: Shinnosuke Miyamoto!
“Sintanizer” has only been throwing for three years, and has been bringing a truckload of freshness to 1A. He is also CLYW’s first Japanese team member, and we can’t think of a better way to set foot on the sacred land of competitive yoyoing!

Yuji was kind enough to give us this New Years Eve trick dump video to drool over. Great style and great composition, as we’ve come to expect from Yuji.
Yoyo used is the Shaqler Protostar by YoYoFactory.

Norwegian player Magne Sætran shows us some straight-up beautiful yoyoing that had me reaching to re-string with a full-length string and work on making my slack tricks look better. Players are drawing parallels from Magne to Ryosuke Isawawa’s tricks and Eric Koloski’s style but honestly, I don’t care….I just think what Magne is doing looks amazing and I wish my yoyoing was that pretty. I swear it looks like he’s just playing with magical jellyfish tentacles or something.

Maria Nechiporenko, from YoYoFactory’s Russian Junior Team, just dropped this new video that has us really excited to see how her play style develops. She definitely has a lot of potential and the beginnings of some really fluid trick presentation. YoYoFactory has always been gifted at spotting the rising talent, and they’re keeping the streak going with Maria.

The lyrics in this video are most definitely NSFW, but the video is just sooooo good that I had to post it anyway. A minute plus of pure genius. Apologies to anyone with offended ears!

Guy Wright busted out this kendama trick, and coincidentally I spent about an hour today working on juggling/body moves with a kendama. But frankly, this trick is cooler than pretty much everything I was working on.

C3 YoYo Design is just killing it lately in the product video department. If they keep this up I’m going to have to just give them their own section of YoYoNews and charge them rent.
Video features Peter Pong Si Yee and Ng Wang Kit a.k.a. “Lowhand”.

ArabYoYo.com has launched as a community-based site with the goal of bringing together and serving as a central resource for yoyo players in the Middle East.
Formed by two players, Abood Dani who lists his location as Kuwait, Jordan, and Syria, and Samir Elotmani who hails from Morocco, ArabYoYo.com is another of what I consider to be massive triumphs of technology in the yoyo community.
I’m going to show my age here and say that when I first started playing, it was a full year before I met another yoyo player. My only contact to other players was the YoYo Times newsletter (which was a paper newsletter that came in the mail, infrequently) and the knowledge that somewhere, mostly on the West Coast, there were other players that I might eventually meet. That now we have active player communities in at least 50 countries and the technology to quickly and effectively connect them is nothing short of astounding to me.
ArabYoYo.com is attempting the daunting task of linking players from Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Best of luck to ArabYoYo.com and hopefully we’ll continue seeing great updates and progress from them as they attempt to link up the player communities in more than 20 countries!

YoYoAccessory.com is to my knowledge, the first a dedicated Vietnamese yoyo retailer…and they’ve released this great video showing a couple of their demonstrators performing at a local school and signing autographs and just generally being total rock stars. Nice work!
(EDITORS NOTE: TheGioiYoyo.vn was apparently the first dedicated Vietnamese yoyo retailer, as I was corrected in the comments. Thanks for the info!)
The 2013 Japan Yo-yo League website has the list of contestants for the upcoming East Japan Block A regional contest.
The 1A division is traditionally strong at East Japan, and this year is no exception. Names like Tatsuya Fujisaka, Chris Makita, Yusuke Ootsuka, and even former World Champions Kentaro Kimura and Shinji Saito (!) should make things very interesting indeed! Another former World Champion competing at EJ-A is Makoto Numagami, although he will remain in his familiar 5A division.
Here’s the full lineup:
EJ-A will be held on January 5th in Tokyo.

This is easily one of the best kendama videos I’ve ever seen…it’s just packed with solid tricks and more smiles per capita than the last five yoyo videos I watched. Amazing stuff from the Kendama USA folks!
In November 2012 the Kendama USA Pro Team traveled to Japan to explore Kendama’s roots, players, and experience the homeland of this game that has changed all of our lives. This is the full length edit of our travels and tricks. Edited by Colin Sander.
